Cairo 2050

The latest show starring Gamal Mubarak was a sudden conference called "Cairo 2050"

The conference was about the future plans for Cairo ,the capital of Egypt till the year 2050

Future planning is very important in any country and it is good to see that the officials are doing it but again what is the role of Gamal Mubarak in this planning officially ??

He is a only the general secretary of the policies committee in the NDP , anyhow we all know that he is ruling Egypt unofficially

Ironically after the news coverage of the event ,I met many people who had one question , in fact it was a reflection for their fear

"Is he going to rule us till the year 2050 ??!!"

Another nightmare , not only the present or the near future but the far future

Not our kids but our grand children too

Another question

"Is he going to plan for Future Cairo so he can sell it ??

Another question

"Is he going to make Cairo for rich only??"

These sarcastic questions are reflection for what the Egyptian People think about GM , that is going to sell the whole couGM watching Newsntry to foreigners in the privatization process and that more and more people are living now under the poverty line, the gap between the rich and poor is increasing and the middle class is in its way to extinction

Of course the last question is wrong , because I believe Cairo is turning to be the city of POOR ,where as the Nouveau riche left it to live in the new rich compounds in the 6th of October and 10th of Ramadan

  1. Look Zeinobia. If you want to win in a chess game you have to have a panoramic view of the whole field. What piece in what location is in power, what piece in what location is potentially effective and what piece in what location can make the final decision. In our case it is the Military power that can impose or dispose Gamal if his father ( after long life..lol) dies. Tantawi is known for many health problems but his is known also for his loyality to Mubarak. Now the real question is, when Mubarak gone would Tantawi be still in place? Would a new Minister of military power be as loyal to Mubarak family or Loyal to the change? that is the key point. Remember lyality is a hidden belief reside in the soul. You can be more loyal to your husband yet you are showing it more to your controlling parents to buy the peace for the current moment. So our hope now is that Tantawi leaves before Hosni leaves hoping that the new man would have hidden loyality to Egypt not to Mubarak
The funny question of selling Cairo remind me of a joke that was circulating in the Sadat era when there was maximum tention between Muslims and Christian. One wise man advised Sadat to send the Muslims to Saudi Arabia and send the Christian to Lebanon then rent Egypt furnished

  3. you did not understand me dear.
Tantawi in power will support Gamal taking power if his father gone NOT Tantawi will be the
President. The Minister of Military affairs in Egypt can actually intefers on who will be the successor and who will NOT be.
now read my comment again to know what I was talking about

  4. ah I got it now ,I feel so stupid in the first time
but let's not to forget that Tantawi is not that popular and if such transition happens between the father and son,he won't be capable to stop any rejection attempt
do not forget there is another rival that the army can accept him that's Omar Soliman in the picture ,taking a strong hold
