Theological war between the Egyptian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church

The Roman Catholic Church is one which started the fight more publicly when It announced that it was only righteous church of Jesus on the earth that it owns the keys of redemption ,well the Egyptian Orthodox Church had to fire back

Pope Shounda in his lesson last Wednesday denied that Saint Peter was the Jesus Original disciples and the spokesperson of the apostles  which made the Catholics in Egypt very angry from Pope Shounda

Pope Shounda is building his assumption on the fact that there is nothing in the Bible says that Saint Peter went to Rome , but on the other hand the Catholics say also the other 11 apostles were not mentioned either in the Bible so why the Pope of Alexandria puts ST.Peter in his mind ??

And that on the same way there was no proof that St.Mark did not come to Egypt either !! of course the Catholics did not leave the opportunity without underestimating St.Mark

As you see this is just another theological war between the Coptic Orthodox church and the Roman Catholic Church and to be honest Pope Benedict was the one who put more fuel on the differences between them

  1. Away from politics which unfortunately plays an important role in religions these days. St Mark started his mission in Egypt 70 years after St Peter. St Peter is the origin, he is from the first generation. St Mark is from the second generation. He was a child at the Time of Jesus Christ. That is History.
a copt orthodox who values honesty

  2. Well before becoming pope Cardinal Ratzinger was Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The man responsible for maintaining the doctrine of the faith so its not surprising to see him do that. He's also known as the Panzer pope named after the WWII german tank.

  3. @anonymous, well it seems that Pope Shounda had another opinion , already I am not christian and I knew this

@Zerocool , it is not a surprising indeed for those who know his history but look what he did since he came , what Jaun Paul II made in decades , he destroyed in couple of years

  5. ok Amr let be here the devil's advocate and ask you why ??
is it because it is the EGyptian chruch ??
or because it is the truth St. Peter was the head of the apostles
do not forget it was true that St.Mark was from the second generation ??

  6. Well, Zeinobia that is because it is the Egyptian church. Boosting the Egyptian church and widening its influence is prestigious for Egypt

  7. It’s very sad of the Egyptian to treat religion like Soccer Club (Ahly versus Zamalek)!! If you ask 99% of the Egyptian Copt Orthodox: What is the basic theological difference between the Coptic Orthodox and the Roman Catholic Church they will give you a wrong answer. In fact there is not any ‘basic difference’ but bias towards leaderships confuses the majority of them making them think like “ us Egyptian versus Them Western –we must be right !!!” . It is sad..
By the way I am Egyptian /Canadian, Orthodox/Catholic Christian (I have history and connection on both so called sides)

  8. @Amre ,well I understand your point ,the EGyptian pride

@anonymous ,strangely many forget that there are also Egyptian catholics who are not westerns , as I see it the current leaderships from both churches are some insisting on staying away from each other
in every religion you will find those who want the different sects to stay away ,just like the Sunni-Shitte , as a Sunni I know this is a committe that works on bringing as togther led by IC unfortunately there is no progress because both side insists on their supermacy

Please dont ask me the stupid question " then why didnt you change?" because the belief that you inheret and the religion that you inheret is the cide that the Mighty god gave it to you.. like your skin color. Changing my skin color against nature will make me like the stupid michael Jackson, white nigger

  10. I guess what you meant by Egyptian catholics are the ironically called coptic Catholics. They very minority and although they are Copts by location they belong to the Pope in Rome

  11. Dr.SR ,if you want to use the correct word and the correct meaning of the coptic word ,then I will be a coptic Muslim "I once wrote post about this , and I once also wrote it in my profile"

  12. Zeinobia, did you read about the coptic catholic before you deny their existance. My closest friend who sponsored me when I came to US is a Coptic catholic. close friends but we still fight at this point
see those links then you can judge

well, regarding what you write about yourself and based on the historical information then if you are from the Egyptians who converted when Islam came to Egypt then you are truly a coptic Muslim. however if you from the Arab who came to tell about Islam and never went back then I guess you would be an Arabic Muslim. That is just by history. My mother told me " if you want to make enemies talk aboput the 2Rs; Religion and Race. I kept the lesion but you are shrewd, you got me involoved this time

  13. DRS.R , Coptic means in Egyptian , it is not about the race anymore and I would rather not to speak about the race in my case because if I got Moroccan and Turkish roots , by saying that we are Arab Muslims I am afraid now is just confirming the claims of the radical christians who are saying Muslims Egyptians are not the real owners of the country and that we are invaders bla bla bla got my point

  14. Zeinobia, he&She:
You are both right (!funny consdering you think you are arguing). Before, and during the Mamluk time the terms "Copt" and Egyptian wereused interchangeably. Gradually afterward it has been used to refer to Christian in Egypt. The Schism between Oriental Orthodox and the Roman Catholics resulted in existance of subgroup of Christian egyptian who maintained adherence to catholic theology (Copt-Catholics). Similarly, Another group from Greek,Syrian, lebanese background is referred to as "Melkite/Greek Catholic- (few of them still remained in Egypt) {F.Y.I Omar Sharif before converting to Islam and marrying Faten Hamama- was a Melkite 'greek catholic)-
