From the treasures of the Egyptian Radio and Television

The Egyptian Radio and Television got treasures my generation and the previous generation still remember and are proud of knowing them by heart , we are not like the Melody generation.

Now the video below is a cartoon made in the 1990s to a Radio Operetta produced I think in the 1950s , yes a very old and beautiful Children Operetta that almost all Egyptians know by their hearts

It became a part of our culture , its lyrics and terms are used in our lives , especially in our birthday celebrations.

The operetta is about the Birthday of the crown prince of all the forest birds Mr. Abu El-Fasd ,all the birds decided to make a big birthday for the little cute fellow you can see him in the last part of the video , little tiny blue fluffy thing

At first there is a part where Uncle Crow , the oldest bird in the forest is telling the bird which of them will play specific musical instrument , for example the the Canary bird will be become the violin and so on .

legendary comedian Fouad El-Mohandes lent his voice to Mr. Parrot and legendary Radio Icon Amal Fahmy lent her sweet beautiful voice to Mrs. Quail , that appears after Mr.Parrot

My favourite part is what Mr. Parrot said to the little prince

Disclaimer : who ever made this operetta did not want to deliver any political message from any kind in the 1950s

This operetta was used in Kafya to make fun from President Mubarak's 80th birthday, they replaced the lyrics with other ones that suitable for the occasion !!

  1. (1) THE OTHER WAY AROUND??... Is the status-quo of 2 different concepts, but the same, only in their..Field?! which is ..world of ACTING, or as they say:EET-TIGAH MOAAKESS/ or, going in the opposite direction...what i am about is, in the West>> Europe+The U.S.A a new comer in acting arena starts His or Her career and attempt to become a household name through RADIO dramas or shows, either as a supporting act or His or Her personal show, taking the risk and the plunge..even better>The GAMBLE Of His/Her->lifetime?? which might make or break His/Her chances to become Famous!! Once crossing that bridge..other doors begin to open for THEM/.. like, guests on T.V shows for Interviews or if lucky converting those Radio sketches from audio version to visual shows,,which is exploring field for any ambitious talent to make it Finally in HOLLYWOOD..the final stage for STARDOM and World-wide..fame!!Such as Late/Great Hollywood comedy star Mr. ROBIN WILLIAMS,began HIS fame as a Stand up comedian also guest appearances on Late RICHARD PRYOR^S SHOW before given HIS own T.V. sitcom called MORK & MINDY?? in the late 1970s!!.. By 1980 in POPEYE the movie/followed by GOO>OO>OOD MORNING VIETNAM/with that loud scream every time HE opened HIS radio progs.for the >US< military personnel in there(& In that film),also likewise, was/is, the situation in the British movies...but some T.V house-hold Sitcoms were FLOP even though ALMOST the same T.V characters appeared on the Silver Screen... But some others done OK, One case i recall that puzzled me was Mr.MICHAEL CRAWFORD/ HE started acting in Black/White Brit. Movies..He even was supporting actor in HELLO DOLLY movie, next to Great Singing VOICE Lady: BARBRA STREISAND + Hollywood Comedy Great, Late Mr.WALTER MATTHAU,but Mr.Crawford made it BIG with his 22 splendid Episodes* T.V comic-sitcom >>SOME MOTHERS DO*AVE*EM..for the B.B.C in 1970s/also made it BIG in London^s West-End theatres/ playing>>PHANTOM OF THE OPERA on its stages, also BARNUM/ being an acrobatic flexible individual HIMSELF then, suitable for such role as a circus performer he did impersonate?!...But things in Arab/Specifically EGYPTIAN talents stardom arena..were & are DIFFERENT/as it goes the Opposite direction, our STARS start their FAME JOURNEYS through the Radio ,as Egypt began its broadcasts in the mid-1920s..but STAGES/CASINOS/NIGHT VENUES were their hub.even though RADIO EGYPT lived its GOLDEN DAWN since the Revolution 1952 era for over 3 decades...as i personally followed its intriguing progs.1955-1979,& in every aspect and subject..including shows/comedies to mention one >> SA-A LI ALBAK..meaning >>Happy Hour..that produced + introduced many great names on for the silver screen/before MASPIRO began its T.V transmissions as early as 1960S ...so this was the ROAD map of any Egyptian hopeful to the TOP:: Radio >Theatre >Cinema..and then once HE/SHE lost charm or FOR some other reasons lost popularity with the CINEMAS* Ticket-Boxes,it is to THE T.V studios,if lucky enough that is,..or the Radio stations for some others, better than nothing?/Maybe?/..but what about the moral..self esteem,confidence.. after years of being, some of them,SUPERSTARS for years or a decade or two at least..i don^t like to mention names here, some are with us others sadly not around..some even left broken hearted or.. their end days, struggling to buy food or medicines for their ailments?? others ended up.. HOMELESS?!>>>..( To Continue)....Is.B. LONDON >>>

  2. (2)ONE MAJOR VICTIM OF HOME-LESSNESS,after 40 years in Film-studio corridors.,running around,..climbing up & down their staircases, sweating, sometimes fearing from failure or mishaps in-front of the camera(s),as did The LATE Comedy-genius Mr.ABDEL FATTAH AL OSSARI, or KASSARI?, infamous with HIS quote: NORMANDY>>TWO..TWO..TWO in the movie of IBEN HAMIDO in HIS misfortunate end-days became BLIND & that mishap-ness led HIM to many other domestic problems and ended HIM up as A Homeless Superstar?? This gentleman was a GREAT character/well educated..fluent in French+English languages, made Millions of EGYPTIAN movie followers..HAPPY and bursting with laughter after laughter from late 1930 to 1960s ,almost 30 long years under limelight..to end up in full DARKNESS?!....It hurts me to admit that ALL of our Arab comedy stars that made us laugh for decades..today I/We laugh to their funny quips with RESERVATION & DUE RESPECT to their undying memories in mind!!...in those bygone years their Humour/jokes/performances brought us to tears, when laughing,..but now-days its the vice-versa,now that the circle of LIFE made us aware of how Most of them ENDED UP in misery??......Around 1960/61 the media authorities decided to broadcast -> LIVE <-long STAGE PLAYS direct from Egyptian theatres..as VIDEO recordings were rare then for 3 hour* plays, sometimes!! We,in Lebanon by changing our AERIAL/antenna directions, we received Maspiro^s intriguing progs. especially on cloudless days??..I never forget that Longest/wonderful one night in 1960/as we watched Mesmerised..>>>IL-LA KHAMSSA stage play with Immortal GREATS such as Madam MARIE MOUNIB +Mr.ADEL KHEIRY + Mr.ADDLY KASSEB..an unforgettable night,no POPCORN bowls but KALLAJ sandwiches gobbled one after another by me & my 5 cousins then, prepared by my late mother and 2 years before SHE left us..,that night repeats of: << ABDO INTI BITESHTAGHALI EH YA HOMARA>> still ringing its echos in my EARS..funny words spoken by Madam MOUNIB?!My MOM had the laughs of HER lifetime??..I was, and STILL am so grateful to this show which CHEERED UP my late MOTHER that night in 1960 ??..even though all such decisions for Plays/Concerts/Football games transmitted LIVE,wasn^t beneficial for others..involved, as GREATS such as Mr.ISMAIIL YASSIN..and his team got effected..tremendously,by reducing theaters* box-offices revenue..and cast^s INCOMES!!..Some felt the pain & agony of those changes...even some became..Unemployed,also forced that GIANT COMEDY LEGEND Mr.YASSIN appear in T.V adds in late 1960s on BEIRUT T.V/cinema screens...just to WORK and make some money to repay TAXES,allegedly..HE owed in CAIRO,and when HE returned back, it was back to Night-clubs/casinos as a Monologist/as if back to square one and as we say:ZAY-YEE MA GITTI..ZAY-YEE MA ROUHTI?,, but now NO>> BADEEA MASABNI Casino around to work for,as HE did in mid 1930/40s.,Believe me> This is true, when in 1967 in a Lebanese T.V interview HE was a guest, made me feel SORRY for HE looked too worn-out/seemed...very TIRED??..i thought and said to all: i am worried about this Person, whom gave nothing but HAPPINESS to all..as if HE,HIMSELF needs cheering up..immediately and constantly,or WE will lose HIM..soon!!..and we sadly DID in May 24th/1972,at least HE was still brave enough to survive those 5 years...living without standing on Theater stages/cinema plateaus and making MOVIES>renowned by HIS name, beginning of each film title that broke Box-Offices..,ONCE, and long ago.. HIS haydays were,,decade of 1950s??..>>>>....Is-Hak BARSOUMIAN/London

The list is to>o>o long to mention all the other beloved+ departed LEGENDS!..IT is too late now,we can^t TURN the clock back, what is gone..is gone, but we can TURN back our attention to all who are still around ,but surviving in difficult circumstances...they deserve all the help/assistance..and care before it is too late?? or as THE GREAT crooner Late ELVIS PRESLEY once said :ITS NOW OR NEVER ,commemorations/memorials/ paying tributes later..THAT^S all Fine, but awards.achievement recognition, financial aid + kind gestures are much valuable & impressive and had instant IMPACT as well & before it is all too late!! without making FUSS\or MUCH ADO about how they lived their lives when young or FIT and some Once owning good wealth...all that could be things in the near or far past..it is not for me and you or others to judge them> the HE or SHE.none of us is Perfect, but they are SPECIAL ONES...most of them once were corner stones of our culture that made/makes us ..PROUD among other nations in the world, with their talents/contributions/roles in life..some lasted for a decade or two or more, be it in Acting/Singing/Writing/Directing/Painting and every other field that entertained us +made us Happy +educated +thought us how to face life and enjoy every second of it and let others ENJOY as well!!Some made their marks on our lives too deep..now seeing any of them living on charitable donations or in debts or having sleepless nights worried about where will the next breakfast or dinner will come from,or where to put their heads for a night^s good sleep.??..are things none of them deserve/is heart breaking to our screen or any other aspect>>HEROES finding them in such state..but THAT^S LIFE as they say,but life without mutual mercy/care is not considered...L I F E !!
