Next there will be a little China Town.

It is not about the Olympics they amazed the world with and made the British doubt if they can represent an opening ceremony like the one they saw in the Bird’s Nest.

They are not coming because they are already there , they invaded our industries even the very native ones from Ramadan Lanterns to praying carpets. They are here and they are in their way of having their little China town in Cairo.

Believe me it will be a matter of couple of years ,when we have a China town in Cairo ,there are signs for this. The industrial Chinese Zone of course plays a role here but not like the other signs

I am not speaking the Chinese and Asian restaurants, already most of these restaurants mainly present Sushi , Japanese Sushi

The most significant sign is the “Buy Chinese” home to home Chinese Sales women and Salesmen , those who came from their faraway country to sell its products with cheap prices in Egypt. It takes a lot of courage and determination to do this in a foreign country especially for the Women who go to foreign houses for the first time . Already those ladies and also men share the houses.

The second significant sign or indicator that soon we will have our own little China is that from two days ago Minister Faiza Abu El-Nag of international cooperation, the newly governor of the new 6th of October Governorate and the Ambassador of China had inaugurated  the first Chinese School in Egypt !!

This is first Chinese school in Egypt , Middle East and Africa

Yeah the first Chinese School in Egypt following the Chinese education , of course beside the Egyptian one , it will start with KG1. I do not have anything with foreign education,we got the French,German,British,American and even Greek not to mention the Armenian schools for the Armenian communities in Egypt  but Chinese , yeah I know that our government signed some agreement with the Chinese government in 2005 to have some mutual projects in education and culture to enforce the powerful Egyptian-Chinese relations and I think we have an Egyptian school in China according to this, of course I do not know who will send his children to it !!??

I found this article from 2004 in Al Ahram Archive saying that after two years the Egyptian students in public and private schools would have the ability to choose Chinese as the second language in their study like English,French,German and Italian, still  I never heard that they added it to these languages , most schools beside English either teach French or German “Many prefer it over the French because it is much easier , of course I can’t tell as I studied French”

Back to the school , I think the students mostly will be little Chinese kids .

I do not think that you know that before the revolution in Halmia neighbourhood in 1940s there was a house called “The Chinese House” inhibited by Some Chinese then , I know about it from my Grand ma and that there was some kind of shop in that house where they sold Chinese products similar to the ones the Chinese are selling now in houses. I do not know what happened to them , may be they left after the revolution !!

If you know anything about the old Chinese House in Egypt please drop a line in the comments or send me an e-mail.

By the way I do not have anything with foreign communities in Egypt ,in fact I will be happy to have a little China Town ,it will add a flavour to Cairo returning its cosmopolitan nature of 1940s , already we got Iraqis and other Arab nationalities , also we got increasing foreign community from the West. It will be great if Cairo sees these Chinese celebrations with dragons and fireworks

  1. I don't know why I even read your post, or keep reading your blog in the first place. Every day you prove yourself to be more stupid then you make it seem. You are a racist and a hypocrite.

There is not Little Rome In Cairo just because of all the Italian restaurants, not to forget the Fiat which was assembled here, or the Italian Machines running in our factories.

The expat communities in Egypt have been adding more to the country than what Egyptians have been steeling!

Having a Chinese school in Egypt will be a big advantage to the country, keeping in mind that they are the coming Giants!

Bottom line, your blog makes me sick, and I can't afford to lose more bandwidth on a page that takeS ages to load because you have no clue what you are doing or have been doing.
Do the Blogosphere a favor, and quit blogging.

N.B. Is just one community not communities - check your grammar.

  2. Here you and I part ways...sorry this just means Cairo will be like every other city that has a chinatown..more westernization for most cities in N. America have a chinatown and it is usually filthy and disgusting. Will you enjoy the smell of bbq PORK Z? These people eat everything and anything..cats, dogs, insects..I got an email displaying the food they served at the Olympics...repulsive not to mention gross.

Also, I did see these Chinese that are selling stuff door to door and even Egyptian men walking hand in hand with Chinese women. So it's official they've taken over the world. Correct me if I'm wrong but why are they letting these people in on visitor visas and not ensuring they leave. I found them in a flea market when I went to visit Minya. Nuts. Shouldn't Egyptians be selling stuff since there is very high unemployment? Chinese women probably don't require a Maher (dowry) or much else..cheap labour, cheap products, cheap wives...cheap people.

Here is a lovely tidbit. The communist, non-God Believing Chinese destroyed a mosque in china. Google it. Here is the article.

Chinese authorities in the restive far western region of Xinjiang have demolished a mosque for refusing to put up signs in support of this August's Beijing Olympics, an exiled group said on Monday.

The mosque was in Kalpin county near Aksu city in Xinjiang's rugged southwest, the World Uyghur Congress said.

The spokesman's office of the Xinjiang government said it had no immediate comment, while telephone calls to the county government went answered.

"China is forcing mosques in East Turkistan to publicize the Beijing Olympics to get the Uighur people to support the Games (but) this has been resisted by the Uighurs," World Uyghur Congress spokesman Dilxat Raxit said in an emailed statement.

Beijing says al Qaeda is working with militants in Xinjiang to use terror to establish an independent state called East Turkistan.

Oil-rich Xinjiang is home to 8 million Turkic-speaking Uighurs, many of whom resent the growing economic and cultural influence of the Han Chinese.

Dilxat Raxit added that the mosque, which had been renovated in 1998, was accused of illegally renovating the structure, carrying out illegal religious activities and illegally storing copies of the Muslim holy book the Koran.

"All the Korans in the mosque have been seized by the government and dozens of people detained," he said. "The detained Uighurs have been tortured."

  3. @anonymous, if the blog is so bad and I am a hypocrite why do you come to my blog especially it takes a considerable time in loading !!??
about the Egyptians and expats , with my all respect to all expats "I work with them by the way on a daily basis" Egypt won't be Egypt without the Egyptians , the big add value won't come from the expats but from the Egyptians themselves

@N.America Princess , I know about that food habits and I know very well about their treatment to the Muslim minorities in China ,it is not a new thing ,still you can not stop them, the Government tried but in vain ,seriously now there are a list precautions to the tourism companies dealing with the Chinese tourists because they come as tourists and do not return back
I met many of them ,they are really very poor and come to Egypt in hope of better life away from their government
hopefully they will respect our traditions ,already what I real care is the economic impact ,their dumping policies are destroying our economy
