The Peace Widow

I followed the recent activity of former first Lady Jehan Sadat , she has just published a new book called “My Hope of Peace” where she says that she defends Islam and Peace in the west.

I wanted to comment last week on her interview in Orbit Channel where she blamed Hamas indirectly for the recent Gaza war after all they were throwing rockets ..etc , it is strange that she forgot that Gaza was and is still living under inhuman siege for more than a year !! The Peace widow forgot about the Children and Civilians who were killed there , it is a strange thing because Jimmy Carter , her husband’s friend was more sympathised with the Palestinians and God knows how he is paying the price in the media in the States currently.

To be honest I forgot because after all there were much more important events last week like the ferry’s court order and the sudden reshuffle plus the shocking statements of Sabah that she betrayed all husbands including legendary hunk Rushdy Abaza “she betrayed Rushdy with Prince Ali of Morocco  , the brother of King Hassan II!! “

But then again I found Mrs. Sadat in NYT , she had a very interesting short but controversial interview , I do not know if the questions were tricky and provoking enough or the answers were naive !!

I do not know how she will justify hers answers regarding the homosexuality part in the Egyptian media; she can be under a lot of criticism because after all the widow of the religious President did not condemn homosexuality but she rather appeared neutral and more acceptable  to the idea , may be because she is speaking to the American Press; still she must realize that now unlike the past what she says abroad will be known back in home in no time.

I only like the her answer on why the Palestinians ,the follow Muslims can’t be part of Egypt,  I do not know Deborah Solomon was kidding when she asked that question or not , did she expected the woman to say other than that answer !!??

Jihan seemed to me an elitist speaking in politics in that interview.Sometimes she just have to think again about her answers , she chose the role of the first lady who interferes and speaks about politics then she must understand the consequences of that choice.

  1. Actually I loved the interview! specially her answers regarding homosexuality, mosque and Palestinians being very smart!

Why u say that she didn't condemn homosexuality? She already said "Homosexuality is against Islam" What more do you want? lol

  2. Jehan Sadat is a wonderful lady and I wish there were more like her in the world. Actually there are more like her but they don't have the same platform from which to speak. Listen to her.

Jimmie Carter is a well meaning but hopeless egotistical idiot. He has not aged well. President Sadat was a shrewd pragmatic leader who knew Carter but was hardly a friend in my estimation. I would say that Henry Kissinger and Anwar Sadat were much closer in understanding real politik and worked well together. After their first meeting Kissinger said" this is a man we can work with" and indeed they did accomplish good things together. They respected each other and used "common sense" which is all too scarce in this unruly frightening world.

  3. The Gaza Strip is living under "inhumane" siege because it is used as a launching pad to bomb Israeli towns. What is the source of your obsession with the Palestinians, who should have been resettled in Arab countries 60 years ago?
