Kill Them All

For the first time yesterday the Egyptian parliament members have agreed on something without the powers of Ahmed Ezz ; the NDP majority ,MBs ,other parties and independent members agreed on killing all the pigs in the country and thank God the government respected the wish of the parliament and the people too and decided to kill all the pigs in Egypt .
I am definitely, those dirty pigs should be eliminated as soon as possible ,we can’t jeopardize the life of millions for no good reason. Already  you can’t imagine how those pigs live or where they live in ,they do not suffer yet from H1N1 but for sure the unhealthy environment they live will make them suffer from other diseases. Our pigs are ugly black fifthly pigs eating from garbage and have that awful smell , if you do not believe it,then hit the road to six of October through the Mehawer and you will know what I am speaking about, even if you close your car’s windows and open the AC ,you will still smell it !!!
Those pigs are raised eating garbage only with no medical care , only now the ministries of agriculture and health are paying attention to them !!
Please do not tell me this will lead to a sectarian division as this is the most ridiculous talk I have heard because for years now we are speaking about how dangerous those pigs are in Egypt in the time of H5N1 !!  I do not know why no one has objected when poultry were eliminated from three years ago !!
At least there are calls to compensate the pigs raisers in Egypt , the government has not yet compensated the poultry raisers and sellers who were bankrupted from three years ago in the H5N1 outbreak !!!
Yesterday the regional office of WHO had a press conference explaining the dangerous of the swine flu. It is not good to be calm in Egypt especially that Israel announced that there are two infected cases there.
The Governor of Alexandria has order the closure of the pigs slaughter house in the governorate which was serving both Alexandria and Cairo.
Also yesterday the people of 15th of May city at Helwan governorate rejected widely the presidential decree to transfer the pigs farms across the country to their town, already they were suffering from the dirty pigs farms there. I do not understand how the government wants to revive Helwan as a recreation spot at the same time wanted to transfer about 500,000 dirty pig there !!
I do not care what the FAO says because with my all respect the Christians in Egypt won’t die without those pigs for God Sake !!!! Already those pigs are raised in the first Place to eat garbage, the FAO does not know the conditions these pigs live in for God Sake.
Back to our dirty pigs do you what is really scary , well you must know the following :
  • About 350,000 –500,000 pigs in Egypt in about 5 Governorates
  • About 40,000 citizens work in the pigs dumpsters and farms.
  • Most of these farms are in the outskirts of the major cities beside the garbage dumpsters in shanty towns.
  • Pigs only eat garbage.
  • The garbage is brought by garbage collectors
  • Each garbage collector pass by hundred houses a week.
Now if the pigs are infected ,they will infect the farmers and their kids whom by their turn will infect other people in a direct contact including the garbage collectors and the garbage collectors have a direct contact hundreds of citizens !!! We are talking about uncontrolled industry.
Do you understand now why I do not like the situation , this is how this virus will spread in Egypt likely heavens forbid if it is not transferred through traveler also heavens forbid !!!
Killing pigs won’t unbalance the Egyptian environment and FYI Pope Shounda III attacked the pigs describing them as unhealthy animal.
Now I am reading that the pigs raisers are calling Obama to help them , I hope that this is just a rumour because this is an insane act to do just for pigs.
Updates No.1 :
Updates No.2 :
  • The health ministry announced that the test results of the suspected case of swine flu came negative thank God
  • The Egyptian Church supports the decision to kill those pigs in Egypt.
  • I think the real discrimination is to let the Christians eat those pigs now which raised in unhealthy way and are full of germs and viruses of other types.
  • If you care that much about the pigs farms in Egypt , why you do not open your mouth about the inhuman unhealthy condition those pigs lived in or now they are God's creatures !!!?? God's creatures deserve better environment for sure
  • I do not have to swear that even if they transferred the pigs to a centralized area, the pigs farmers will protest.
  • Worldwide WHO announced that we reached level 5.
This photo was shot by Ahmed Abdel Fatah

This photo was published yesterday in Al Masry Al Youm, the man sprays the pigs something to protect them taking in consideration that he is not wearing gloves nor a mask and the pigs are still in that dirty place ,those mounts of garbage in that location full of germs
Updates No.3 :
  • Please read my updated post here
  • The Egyptian Government has allocated 1/2 billion pound to compensate the pigs raisers, I must hint that the poultry raisers have not recieved a penny from the government on their losses in the outbreak of H5N1 and the government already ignores compensating them

  4. Nice post Zeinobia! These are great facts I haven't heard about, especially Shabola's song :). Must hear it!

Seriously though this is an issue of national security. We will prosper someday when ignorants value human life and people think as a nation, not as an individual.

Keep it up Zeinobia! I wanna go back to blogging!

  6. Yeah I agreed with you 100%. Nobody is going to die if not eating pork! for once immediate action has to be taken to control the spread of this dangerous disease! Egypt have so many tourists coming in and out and you never know any of them could bring this disease besides the pig farm. The Government should have more trained doctors and nurses at the check point of entry and also at all the hospitals to monitor anybody who felt sicked because of flu. May God help all of us.

  7. I totally disagree! It is nonsense to kill these animals. The Mexican flu is absolutely NOT spread by pigs. The World Health Organisation has allready told that the flu is spread by PEOPLE. And even if it was spread by pigs... you don't kill all the people because they spread the flu. So don't kill all pigs.

You say pigs are held unsanitary. But please look around and see how other animals in Egypt are fed. It's not really better.

I think the Egyptian Government is, as always looking for e simple 'scapegoat'. By looking for an easy target, they hope to raise there popularity which is very low... And I think it could even be a way to discriminate against Christian Egyptians.

  8. I think you should get a grip on reality. Slaughtering pigs is not the solution to the swine flu problem.

  9. zeinobia ? swines are not created for killing, suppose that this case was in poultry and there was no any infection in Egypt, only out side Egypt as swine flu todays , Do u think the Egyptian Government would take the same decision of slaughtering < I don,t think so> ,( THIS IS RELIGIOUS DECISION IN THE FACT)

  10. Why not also kill all the chicken and birds to prevent the bird flu that caused the death of many people in Egypt? Oh I forgot, eating birds is not forbidden in Islam.

  11. H5N1 is spread from human to human. Pigs have little to do with the virus, it is a case of an unfortunate name association.
I usually enjoy reading this blog and find it most informative, but this post is ridiculous. It seems that even Zeinobia has become a part of the media hysteria and sensationalisation!

  13. dear Zenobia...

The United States Government has reported 109 laboratory confirmed human cases, including one death. Mexico has reported 97 confirmed human cases of infection, including seven deaths.

The following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases with no deaths - Austria (1), Canada (19), Germany (3), Israel (2), Netherlands (1), New Zealand (3), Spain (13), Switzerland (1) and the United Kingdom (8).

Hystery - thats it, it is a flu - people are dying, but it is normal........
so why kill pigs, the earnings of thousands of people - and without any compensation,
    what a pitty...........and without compensation.

@Zack , it is not only Bastiwisi ,there are many people in the world who do not want to use their brains

@anonymous#1 ,the virus does not transfer from pork meat but from the direct contact between the pigs and humans then humans to humans. I agree that our doctors and nurses should be trained enough and hospitals should be ready for the new virus

@It is aai , Please read my other post I posted its url in the post above. FYI Pope Shounda III agrees on this decision and supports it completely ,this is not a discrimination to Christians , this is the most ridiculous thing I have heard.

@anonymous#2, I know that , but it is a precaution

@mar3e, how it could be a religious decision did the Sheikh of Al-Azher issue a fatwa?? Please check my other my post I wrote about my view regarding this

@anonymous#3,this already happened from 3 years ago and we turned from a major exporter of poultry to a major importer and for the record no one compensated the poultry raisers or sellers unlike the pigs raisers

@anonymous#4 , check you medical information first , the virus source is the pig that it is mutated to become from human to human, the pigs flu is a mix between H1N1, H5N1 and human flu , the three can be mixed in Egypt so easily

@Ahmed , I did not know , I am sorry , in fact I read your post about your area the 15th of May , mabrook

@Dorothea, the Government has allocated half billion pound to compensate the raisers already

  15. So you're saying that the Pope is right and the WHO and the FAO are not!
What's the highest authority in terms of health? I sure hope it is the World Health Org. Anyhow, I oppose the slaughter of pigs and I'm Muslim! Yeah! They too should be kept alive! Oh and no need to call other people stupid or brainless just because they have a different opinion than yours!

  16. I am a pig, please don't kill me.5/01/2009 04:49:00 PM

Just because some pigs in North America may or may not have the flu does not mean that all the pigs of the world are sick. When there was a mad cow disease in some countries, did Egypt overreact and slaughter all the cows? No, simply because eating cows is not forbidden in Islam.

The decision by the Egyptian government to slaughter all the pigs in Egypt is a decision that is based on ignorance of the facts, it has nothing to do with science.

The support by many Egyptians for that decision is based on cultural, religious, and psychological perception of pigs, but not on facts. Most Egyptians are Muslims and many of them are against having pigs in the country regardless of whether or not there is a problem.

Shnouda's support for killing all the pigs means nothing... it doesn't even qualify to be a joke. Being the "Pope" of the Coptic Orthodox church is a political position, and not all Christians in Egypt belong to that church. Even those who belong to that church do not agree with the Shnouda on all issues. Everyone knows that if Mubarak had said that the pigs of Egypt are ok and that there is no need to slaughter the pigs, Shnouda would come out and thank Mubarak for his wisdom and for not overreacting.

    Please!

What I do not understand is this, you call for the slaughter of the pigs, however they said over and over again, this is being transmitted from human to human and "NOT FROM PIGS TO HUMAN" they also said there is absolutely no way at all to catch it from eating pork, so why are you calling for the slaughter of all pigs, shouldn't you instead be calling for the slaughter of people. Here are some simple facts I am sure you can believe. Some people will catch the flu, some of these WILL NOT tell anyone because they will be afraid of being quarantines and they will spread it, there are people living in Egypt in very dirty conditions, very poor conditions shouldn't their homes be destroyed then? Lastly as for eating garbage, you are not telling a few things, first that the garbage is treated first, it is then boiled down to kill bacteria and only then it is fed to the pigs, this is practiced world wide. Have you ever gone into a ranchers place where they keep cows for slaughter, is also smells very poor, same to on mega-chicken farms. But again my point is this, there has not been one country, not one health organization, not one agency that has said eating pork can possibly spread the flu, no in fact the US government, the UK government, the Mexican Government, the UN, the WHO, the American Medical Association, the French ministry of Health have all said YOU CANNOT catch this from eating PORK and there is less than a .01% chance of catching it from a pig, but a 78% chance you will catch it from a human-so why to slaughter the pigs?

I know my next point will make you mad, but it is on the very same basis of your claim: I am sure you will come back to me and say, even though they all say you can not catch it from them, why even take the chance (even though there is no proof you can catch it from them). Then I will state, how is that any different at all from the west coming out and saying, well not "all" Muslims are terrorist, BUT there have been a lot of terrorist who claimed to be Muslims, so we should make Islam illegal and arrest anyone in the world who is a Muslim, -- just to take preventative measure. I am not trying to start a fight, but really it is the EXACT same argument you are making there is no difference on it from a debatable point of view, only in an emotional point of view and that is how things become dangerous. Do remember when
Egypt killed all the birds before it was only after that, that some 200 some people caught it and died. So again, leaving emotions out and based on the FACTS, how can you ask for the slaughter of something that is not even spreading it when the ones who are are human and it has been shown as proof that you can nto get it from eating pork?

    ReplyDelete
  18. To quote Zeinobia "@anonymous#1 ,the virus does not transfer from pork meat but from the direct contact between the pigs and humans then humans to humans..."

I know that English isn't your first language, but will you please get it into your head that this particular flu is NOT TRANSFERRED FROM PIGS TO HUMANS. No pig has been found to be infected with it. What is so hard to understand about that? You can't really believe that the decision to slaughter all of Egypts pigs is not based on religion. If it really is based on public health grounds, then why weren't all of Egypts chickens, ducks, pigeons etc slaughterd? People in Eggypt are still dying from bird flu. Don't think that it has gone away. And don't forget that the so-called "swine flu" is actually a combination of human, pig AND bird flu.

It may be true that Egyptian pigs live in filth...but that is the fault of the people who raise them. Animals in general are treated appallingly in Egypt, from tiny donkeys carrying fat farmers and enormous loads to the animals in Giza Zoo.

  19. Hamdan Ibrahim5/02/2009 02:50:00 PM

There is no reason what so ever to kill the pigs. I just spent over two hours reading news sites from the internet and the above is correct, there are still dozens of people in Egypt that are still getting sick from bird flu, so why do you not call for the eradication of ALL birds, will you answer this question????

Secondly, even thopugh the pigs may live in very very drity conditions, shouldn't you then instead of demanding the pigs be killed, go after the farmers instead, make the government make them clean up the farms, put the pigs in better conditions, killing them all is a bit of over kill isn't????

Third, by your emotions in your post, we cannot help but to think they only reason you are calling for this is becuase of your religion, but if that is the case, then you shoudl follow all beliefs in your religion and not just pick and choose which to follow and which not, therefore hands should be chopped off, women should be stoned, rape should have at least three male witnesses, etc, or do you feel you are allowed to pick and choose????

Will you answer the above or just make an emotional out burst in general????

If you are still calling for the slughter of all pigs and you no that all peoples in the medical industry are stating clearly you cannot catch this from eating pork and that you will most likely catch if from a human and the only report of "pigs" having this has been reported in Mexico and just a couple of pigs in the US and no where else, how can you still justify the killing of pigs and not that of humans?

    ReplyDelete
  20. OK if that picture of the pig farm is real and authentic, then yes the pig farm in the pictures and others like it should be closed down. HOWEVER, there is still no need to slaughter the pig, however the government should be held accountable for allowing such farms to be in the first place. That is dangerous and it appears the garbage is NOT treated like it is in other countries. that is disgusting, not the pigs, but the farmers who would allow it to be like that, they should be hauled into court or arrested. The pigs should be relocated to another area.

By the way as far as religion goes, do remember that maybe your religion is against pigs, however there is a large religion that believes eating or killing cows and beef is totally wrong, so should we get rid of all the cows and not allow anyone to kill them for food.

  21. Be careful of the road you travel and those you agree so easily with!!! You say "KILL EM ALL," It may be the pigs of Egypt today. But, it will be the bloggers of Egypt tomorrow. This is the mentality of "those who are a threat must die".

  22. You have GOT to be kidding. What idiot would kill all the pigs in the country? I might sound rude, but it makes me so angry. I read this page, and it seems like the pigs dispose of garbage and produces thousands of jobs. Now- it might make people sick, but people need jobs, and what are you going to do with that much trash? Throw it in the ocean so fish can die? Burry it? You'll run out of run sooner or later.
Pigs are not filthy creatures unless treated as such. Clearly people are not treating their pigs right in the first place, because pigs are acctualy pretty smart if given the chance. But clearly they are not being given that chance.

  24. @It is aai , Please read my other post I posted its url in the post above. FYI Pope Shounda III agrees on this decision and supports it completely ,this is not a discrimination to Christians , this is the most ridiculous thing I have heard.

IN reaction to your reactoin above:
Because there seem to be no real scientific reasons to link the Mexican Flu to Pigs, the real reason for the Egyptian Government to slaughter the Pigs must be looked for somewhere else...

    What I said then was:

"I think the Egyptian Government is, as always looking for e simple 'scapegoat'. By looking for an easy target, they hope to raise there popularity which is very low... And I think it could even be a way to discriminate against Christian Egyptians."

So don't say I only wrote it was to discriminate against Christians, but that it looks like it. But I also wrote that it is the work of a government that looks for ways to look as if they are on top of things...

And then, if pope Shenouda agrees with it, that does not make it a proof that it is not a discriminating action against christians... If the pope, and the christian mp's were told that the killing of all pigs was necesary, and absolutely needed to prevent an outbreak of mexican flu in Egypt, OF COURSE they would agree. But the whole thing is, IT IS NOT TRUE, because the mexican flu DOES NOT spread through pigs, but from HUMAN to HUMAN.

And lastly, ask yourself (as was written by someone reacting on your blog) why not all birds/chicken were massacred because of the birdflu, which, as you often update on your blog about DID KILL people in Egypt and which DOES spread from birds to human!

    ReplyDelete
  25. You ask for comments to be civilized. Personally I find your comments on pig breeders quite hatefull and uncivilized. Pigs do not transmit "svine flu", and knowing Egypt quite well i distrust your agenda.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Is the owner of this blog going to respond? There seems to be some legitimate questions being asked about her and people waiting for her comment. You started this topic on here so will you kindly respond since you made such a profound statement?

I will again pose the questions from above (please do try to answer the questions WITHIN the manner the questions are asked):

    1. Why do you support the slaughter of every single pig in Egypt - even though just about every medical, scientific organization, the UN and WHO all state that it "is not" being transmitted by pigs but by people to people? (please do not use the excuse in order to be preventative) the above organizations have already stated that it would not do any good what so ever and the risk is more than 90% of catching from people to people, 9% from touching things that inflicted people have touched and less then 1% from any direct contact with "effected" pigs. Also if you follow the medical belief at the start that this was a pig flu then you should also follow the same people who are saying this is not transfered by pigs but from people to people.

    2. Why do you support the slaughter of pigs when is has been stated it is impossible to catch it from eating pork period?

    3. Why have you not called for the slaughter of every bird and poultry in Egypt when it has been shown that the bird flu was and still is far more dangerous than Influenza A? When even in Egypt several persons have already died from it.

    4. Why do you not instead suggest the government go after the pig farmers for rearing pigs in unhealthy situations and fine them or arrest them and make them relocate the pigs?

    5. You state the government is going to compensate the farmers, why not instead provide the farmers with the money to update or relocate the pigs?

    6. How do you compensate? Farmers have a ready stock of pigs for the market, they will loose all of those, farmers have a rotating stock, they will loose that rotation and have to start fresh, Farmers have pigs to give birth the future stock (this is on going) they will loose this as well, therefore even if the farmers where to get new live stock, it would take years for them to fully recover.

    7. Please do not bring up how to Pope, etc all support, they are not medical experts nor scientist working directly with this.

    8. If you still support the killing of all the pigs even after all of the above, do you then also support the lock up "(even if by force) of humans who not only might have the flu, but also anyone what so ever who has come from any of the 17 countries that have reported cases: Mexico, Canada, USA, France, Russia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, China, UK, etc? Do you agree that if any person "period" should come into EGYPT from any of those countries that they should automatically be locked up for a period of at least 2-3 days from entering the country in order to take PREVENTATIVE measures to see if they may have the illness? If you do not support this, then can you explain why not since if by your argument: why take the chance" therefore since there is virtually NO CHANCE of getting from these pigs (since these pigs are not in contact with the Mexican pigs) but there is a very high chance that a person could have it, then "why take the chance"?

These are 8 questions that sum up all of the above, please answer if you do not mind and please substantiate your answers, that is all we are asking.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Thinker, you should check also the number of those who were killed in the car accidents in the last three years because they were more than all the Egyptians that died in our wars in the 20th century
You must know that Egypt had no.1 death toll in 2009 for H5N1 which settled down in Egypt and the WHO warned that it may mutate in Egypt to the human to human phase killing millions in Egypt ,the WHO for 3 three years spoke about the pigs dumpsters but the government could not do anything in front of the influence of the Garbage collectors tycoons , I am not speaking about the poor collectors who living with those pigs in these dumpsters as I am speaking about the big heads in Egypt , the millionaires of garbage, you see Garbage collection is a shady very profitable profession in Egypt.
Already just before answering your questions I should hint about the following points
-The pigs are not raised in farms as you know it it is dumpsters
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/ahmedcarlos/3480943447/
    - Those pigs are not raised for food proposes but rather to eat garbage in dumpsters
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/ahmedcarlos/3481763886/
    - The real number of pigs according to the latest official statical information released by the government is 168,000 pig not 500,000 as it was announced earlier.
-51% of these pigs will be slaughtered in a hygienic way , the remaining 49% will be slaughtered and its meat will be stored and sold. The percentage of the meat or even the pigs from the total Egypt animal wealth is too small to mention.
    Now about the questions
1.Yes the WHO said that the pigs do not have hand in Swine flu , but up till now nobody knows the source of that strain of this flu. It is possible scientifically that pigs some how hosted this strain for some time and we do not know
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/05/01/swine-flu-may-have-evolve_n_194404.html
It is not preventative in case of someone comes from outside but let's go back to the fact that the pig scientifically is a vessel to mix human flu, H5N1 and H1N1, already I heard about the dangers of the H1N1 and how explosive our pigs dumpsters are as pigs according to the WHO H5N1 can mutate because of them especially with the lack of total hygiene
You think it is not preventive , well it is more of precautious action , the H5N1 has already settled down in Egypt and from time to time it kills innocent people in Egypt , if that scary scenario takes place , millions can die starting the garbage collectors and then the whole world will just watch !!
2-The pork meat is not the issue , I know very well the virus does not transfer from it, already the majority of the country does not eat and many Christians too do not eat , again these pigs were not raised to be eaten but rather to eat the garbage , very few of it are sold to hotels and few outlets in Cairo
3-FYI Egypt was the third country in the world in exporting frozen chicken , we had a billion pound poultry industry , when the H5N1 came ot Egypt we had to order the slaughter millions of birds and stop the importation of living birds nor the transfer of living birds between the governorate. there was a military order to close the living poultry shops across the country and now. We lost in that outbreak about more than one billion Egyptian pound and we did not complain in fact last week the minister of agriculture has ordered the execution 7300 living bird in Alexandria !!! People have never complained
what do you think regarding this ??
4- I think I answered the question in the introduction ,these raisers are not farmers but rather garbage collectors and part of the problem is that they refuse to transfer the pigs in to clean places in the deserts because in the end they are not raisers but rather garbage collectors, they mean shifting their main career. For years people spoke about this matter and no one listened our regime is reactive one , only after realizing the implication of having H5N1 mutated in Egypt they began to act. People are extremely angry from its H5N1 fiasco and that's why they are acting in a very proactive way then ever.

5- In Cairo where they started to slaughter the pigs , the raisers are compensated by the age and weight of the pig , in governorate the governor and the officials sit with the garbage collectors to know the best way to compensate them. It is worth to mention that the poultry sellers and raisers have not been compensated up till now despite they have lost billions

6- there will be new clean farms for pigs outside the cities they import pigs as far as I know ,if it is going to take years , well pardon me but in H5N1
a whole booming successful industry was hit and up till now it is trying to recover as well

7-Scientists and experts in Egypt agree on the decision not for hypocrisy nor for hidden agendas or whatever.

8- You should check the measure taken in our airports and harbors for this matter because you will surprise that we are taking this matter very serious ,call it panic or not but there are talks to advance the exams for schools and universities.

I hope that I answered all your questions in the way that you wanted ,I thank for your time to summarize all questions.
Dear thinker from ur questions I would say that you do not know much about Egypt , I swear this decision was not taken for a religious reason , the people are really scared and they have to.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dear Zeinobia,
First I would like to thank you for taking the time to answer my questions; I do appreciate it very much. My insistence on the above questions was more for debate. I appreciate you took the time to respond where many other blog hosts would not respond. Intelligent discourse is always a delight and to have a blog host whom will open their mind and debate a topic and even allow themselves room to read the discussions and think about the topic and answer positively is very refreshing, I would assume you would even allow yourself the chance to change your opinions if shown evidence or another well thought point of view, which is in fact what you have done with me. I stand corrected-about the pigs being reared for food and / or their being a religious over tone to the above. However, though I still stand by my belief that there have been no valid reasons given for the slaughter of the pigs. Yes I do agree all the garbage collectors that are rearing the pigs should have their places shut down. They should also be heavily fined and / or arrested for inhumane treatment of the animals and possible harmful actions towards the general public. As for the pigs, they should be tested and if deemed not harmful. They should then be relocated to a more suitable area, there still is no justification for the mass slaughter of these animals what so ever at this point, be it filthy conditions or the current Influenza outbreak. The above post made a valid point that if these pigs are not in contact with either another pig that has the illness or a human who has caught it, then there is relatively no chance they can catch as oppose to certain birds that can take flight at will.

I do agree the conditions that these pigs are raised in is utterly inhumane and a disgrace for any society to treat such animals or to allow this to continue. The government should have acted on this long ago and them to should be held accountable. They should also make these garbage collectors to pay for the screening of the pigs and relocation of these pigs. I do agree however if a stock has been tested and shown or determined to be a threat then the appropriate measure would be to terminate that stock, both for the protection of the general population and the other livestock as well.

As for me, no I am not from Egypt, I am a 41 year old American who has lived in Moscow Russia for about 7 years, Almaty Kazakhstan for 1-2 years and Malaysia for the last 10 years off and on. I am currently in Malaysia (mostly a Muslim and Chinese country.) I found your blog by accident the other day and found it most enlightening and interesting and very good reading. I am enjoying learning about your country from your point of view and am looking forward to future conversations and or debates. I think you have done an excellent job on your blog and it is very refreshing to see someone put their heart into it and respond like you do. I do have two blogs myself but they are more on the light side, one about my time in Malaysia, more like a place for me to just talk nonsense and there other a food blog I am slowly developing. In any regards, thank you very much for taking the time to respond and for allowing me to learn more about your culture from your perspective. Michael aka thinker

  29. Habibati Zeinobia,

You seem clever and open minded. So why do your emotions overwhelm your rational? Everybody knows now that the flu spreads through human contacts - and by the way how many were killed by A-H1N1 for one month now? In the same time, how many people died from cancer, aids, heart attack, etc.? Unfortunately, the decision is obviously anti-christian, for those people make a living from that job (and who would envy them for doing it)? Isn't time for more solidarity among Egyptians, regardless of their believes?
