Meet our Egyptian Tablet With not So Egyptian Name “INAR”

The minister of telecommunication announced today in Cairo the production of the first so-called Egyptian tablet.
The tablet’s name  is “ENAR” and I think that this is not so Egyptian.
Its operating system is Android 4. It will be distributed on students in secondary stage and university.
From Arab PC world
This makes me happy as Egyptian to see Katron once is competing electronics giants but seriously Can someone please tell Katron to improve their official website !? It is disgrace.
By the way Katron is from the state owned 1960s companies and what you know about the 1960s !!?? Seriously speaking I am glad that we started to produce tablets
Katron is going to produce in the upcoming 4 years units of “INAR” worth of LE 2 billion according to Ahram Online.
Actually it is going to be assembled in Egypt and it is not something bad but rather good step.
The first 1,000 units will be produced before the end of the year.
The specification of the tablet according to Al Masry Al Youm :
  • Resolution : 720 X 1024 pixel , 9.7 inches
  • OS : Android 4.0
  • Video Camera primary : 2 MP
  • Video Camera secondary : 2 MP
  • Weight : 750 g
  • Memory : 8 to 32 GB storage / 1 GB RAM
  • Connections : WiFi and 3G
By the way when you search for Egyptian tablet , this is what you get. Yes the first Egyptian tablets.

LOL, well that is still something to be proud of besides the high tech tablet. They still amazing after all these thousands of years
I think Katron shouldve hired a more clever designer and given the tablet an ancient Egyptian flavor such as these and if competitively priced, they could be a hit on the international market.

Oh give Egypt a break, all corporations do this all the time, most Japanese cars are assembled in U.S,India,Mexico and China.

Similarly Apple products are made in China and perhaps even assembled there.

  7. I am happy because it is produced to be distributed on school kids. Egypt is replacing books with tablets, which is a nice step in the correct direction.

  8. any idea about the price ?
where could i buy one of those?

  9. I think school kids will never lay a finger on this tablet as it would be government property. As you prpobably know government property is kept in a safe place so, kids don't destroy it.

  18. Is it fully made in Egypt? no.
Is it a big step into the electronics industry field? Hell yes.

Why can't some people consider this as our first step into a marathon?

  19. Great first step , but I'm not surprised that it was done by a state owned company. When will the real people be able to compete. We live in a command economy all the way from manufacturing electronics (Arab Organization for Industrialization) to the IT services (TE-Data). These companies deserve to exist but not to monopolize.

  21. i will buy it even i don't need it as i have mine but to encourage my country .

  22. I have no problem that all the components are from china, even Apple is manufactured in china due to the low labor cost. Moreover, we don't posses the high tech manufacturing capabilities to make surface mount elements such as resistors, capacitors, nevertheless, we can't produce all the touch screen, camera, etc...
The main issue here is the design process which is the main manufacturing step. All high tech brands have the highest investments in R&D. So, the question remains, where did they got the MB design, is it done in Egypt or reverse engineered, or what ? Do they have a plan to make it better ? Is there an R&D going on to improve it ?

  23. With such a poor 'official' web site, I can't take this tablet thing seriously. How do they expect to sell if they can't even make a decent web site!!!

And importing machines to do tablets isn't a big deal anyone can import them. The deal is building the technology or the machines that make those tablets in the first place.

We don't have to manufacture a tablet, but we can pick a small component and specialize in manufacturing it 100%. I think we should start with the components first rather than the full product.

  24. now this version will not be in the stores and onther version would be able with some edit !! .. as it would have bluetooth and camera 5 mp and the other 2 mp and ful support to Sim Card .

  25. same Egyptian shit. you buy all components and collect them and then say "Made in Egypt" . well with the same freak logic Egypt is already manufacturing Suzuki , Sherokee, Mercides , Grunding ....
God, why don't just find some small chip-set and manufacture it. that would be a real jump. not those fake achievements.
