It is the time for those monthly Covid-19 posts in Egyptian Chronicles and I hope that I will not have to do this inshallah soon as the pandemic ends worldwide.
This time it is a quick look into official Covid-19 numbers in Egypt after 21st months since its arrival to the country in February 2020.
The usual disclaimer: According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included

Those official numbers represent the patients who enter the ICUs in designated coronavirus isolation public hospitals in the country in critical condition according to official statements, not the mild cases of coronavirus or those who receive treatment at home.

From September 2021 to October 2021 in Egypt
The total numbers of official registered cases went up from September “16,083 cases” to October “26,493 cases” by 64.7%.
The total numbers of officially registered fatalities went up too from September “595 cases” to October “ 1,320 cases” by 121.8%.
October recorded the highest death rate in Egypt in 5 months.
Meanwhile, the total number of officially registered recoveries also went up from September “17,543 cases” to October “21,361” by 21.8%
Egypt was already at the peak of the pandemic fourth wave in October according to health officials.
The national academic and school year kicked off in October in full capacity for the first time in two years which means more social gatherings.
It is also fall time, the time of the seasonal cold and flu for many people.
Compared to October 2020 in Egypt
The total numbers of official registered cases hit the ceiling in October 2021 “26,493 cases” compared to October 2020 “4,238 cases” by 525% !!!!!!!!!!!
The total number of official fatalities cases increased in October 2021 “1,320 cases” compared to October 2020 “ 336 cases” by 292.5 % !!!!!
The total number of official recoveries cases increased in October 2021 “21,361 cases” compared to October 2020 “2,958 cases” by 292.8% !!!!
I can say that people were cautious in 2020 than in 2021 !!

Vaccination Progress
According to the Egyptian government, 38 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administrated in Egypt.
Presidential adviser for Health affairs Dr Awad Tag El-Din stated that by the end of October nearly 24 million Egypt have been vaccinated.
Ont the other hand, Egypt has received 72 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine
