Coronavirus on the Nile: 16 months of COVID-19 in Egypt in graphs

Another monthly post as part of the COVID-19 coverage in Egyptian Chronicles.

This time it is a quick look into COVID-19 numbers in Egypt after 16 months since its arrival to the country in February 2020.


From April 2021 to May 2021

The total numbers of official registered cases went up from April “ 25,421 cases” to May “35,098 cases” by 38%.

The total numbers of officially registered fatalities increased slightly from April “ 1,344 cases” to May  “1,757 cases” by 30.7%.

Meanwhile, the total number of officially registered recoveries went up from April “ 16,079 cases” to May “21,399 cases” by 33%

So far May 2021 recorded the highest number of cases per month in 2021 when it comes to the daily number of coronavirus cases, fatalities and recoveries as well recorded officially.

Comparing to May 2020

Now comparing to May 2020, the numbers went up for real without a doubt. We had nearly real semi-lockdown and restrictive rules than in May.

People were really concerned unlike now. It is worth to mention according to doctors May 2021 was the peak of the coronavirus third wave in the country.

We were on the verge of the peak of the first wave in May 2020.

The total numbers of official registered cases increased in May 2021 “35,098 cases” comparing to May 2020 “19,448 cases” by 80% !!

The total numbers of official fatalities cases increased in May 2021 “1,757 cases” comparing to May 2020 “567 cases” by 210%.

The total numbers of official recoveries cases increased in May 2021 “21,399 cases” comparing to May 2020 “4,656 cases” by 359%.
