This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its official numbers in graphs in Egypt.

Disclaimer: According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included.

First, the official daily cases of coronavirus in Egypt.

In August, Egyptian officials above them Minister of Health Hala Zayed has admitted that Coronavirus’ infamous Delta variant was discovered in Egypt in July but it was not alarmed so far.

Egyptian officials have also long warned and predicted that September would witness the start of Coronavirus’ fourth wave.

I believe that wave has already started in late August.

Unofficially you began to know about cases especially in the North Coast, aka Egypt’s summer resort destination for the Upper and Upper Middle class due to the lack of social distancing and the lack of masks as people believe open air can protect them but it is not like that and the majority has not yet been vaccinated.

It is enough to see all the parties and concerts all over the country held in August to know that it was only a matter of time before cases would rise again.

Again those numbers represent the patients who enter the ICUs in designated coronavirus isolation hospitals in the country in critical condition according to official statements, not the mild cases of coronavirus or those who receive treatment at home.

Moving to the fatalities official numbers.

August 2021 witnessed some of the lowest numbers of fatalities recorded officially in the country since March 2020.

Just like the infection cases began to increase steadily so did the fatalities by the end of the month.

Moving to the fully recovered patients, which is the good news in this pandemic.

There is a huge that took place in vaccination in Egypt during August as the country received a huge and diversified amount of coronavirus vaccines including Johnson & Johnson which was allocated to travellers as well as AstraZeneca and Sinopharm.

The country also added Russia’s Sputnik to its vaccination program expanding its use as well.

Egypt has already released 1 million doses of its locally produced Sinovac/VACSERA vaccine in August.

In late August, Minister Hala Zayed stated that 1.3 million of the state's administrative personnel were vaccinated against coronavirus.

She did not mention though whether they were vaccinated in August or not.

According to the WHO’s numbers, Egypt witnessed as many as 6,477,535 Covid-19 vaccine doses alone through 16 August.

The number of vaccination centres also increased in August from 580 to 678 centres nationwide.

Just stay safe and register yourself to get vaccinated if you are in Egypt as soon as possible inshallah.
