Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s Covid-19 October 2021 numbers in Graph “More daily cases, More fatalities”

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its official numbers in graphs in Egypt.

This is the second September to pass in Egypt during the Covid-19 pandemic, unfortunately.

Officially, Egypt was at the peak of the fourth wave of Coronavirus in October thus the numbers of the daily cases but there is good news as more and more people are vaccinated.

Disclaimer: According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included.

First, the official daily cases of coronavirus in Egypt

Again we are speaking about the official count which is based on the critical cases admitted to the ICUs in the public hospitals.

Those numbers do not represent the real patient numbers or those who are treated in homes.

The numbers of coronavirus cases increased steadily and rapidly in October with an average of 10 to 30 cases on some days or 2 or 4 cases on other days.

The number of cases increased as the new academic year kicked off in Egypt’s national educational systems-schools and universities.

Those schools returned in full capacity to the classrooms per the directives of the Ministry of education.

Again, the big challenge is the children and the fact that the Delta variant spreads among the young ones.

The Ministry depends on the vaccination of the teachers which started in August but it is not enough as social distancing and other precautionary measures are not followed most of the time, unfortunately.

The public before the government act as if there is no pandemic as usual I am afraid.

This is a photo taken by a drone last week from Egyptian rapper Wegz’ concert at Al-Manara Conference Center in New Cairo.

It summarizes how both the public and the government deal with the coronavirus for real right now.

Moving to the fatalities official numbers

The coronavirus fatalities also increased officially but personally, I feel less than in other waves. Nevertheless, the obituaries are back on Facebook.

It reached 59 cases for the first time since May 2021.

Again those official numbers are less than the real numbers according to the officials in Egypt.

Moving to the fully recovered patients

Delta variant patients reportedly take more time to recover than other variants as I have been reading.

Now moving to the vaccination situation news, the real good news in October

The Egyptian government stated that about 38 million vaccine doses have been administrated in Egypt by 31 October.

Last month, Minister Hala Zayed stated that 16,959,764 doses had been administrated in Egypt so this means nearly 21,040,236 alone which is a big leap thanks to the huge quantity of vaccines we received in the past two months.

Now for the record, WHO’s COVIDax Live website says that on October 31 Egypt administrated only 27,646,712 doses but the website says its numbers are not updated on time nor reflected sometimes the actual number.

According to Health Minister Hala Zayed, Egypt was supposed to receive over 7 million coronavirus vaccine doses in October

More people are expected to be vaccinated in the following weeks as the now vaccination is mandatory in the public sector starting from Mid November.

Now public servants must be vaccinated or presented every two weeks a negative PCR.

Be sure to follow Egyptian Chronicles live Coronavirus coverage for the month of November.

Just stay safe and register yourself to get vaccinated if you are in Egypt as soon as possible inshallah.
