No Jewels in Medina

This book need not be banned. Nor read.

Abdel-Rahman Hussein- Daily News Egypt in his review for controversial novel "No Jewels in Madina " .

I should hint out that one the same day Daily News Egypt published this review beneath there was a rare and exclusive interview with Sherry Jones.

Hussein’s review is one of the best balanced reviews I have read concerning this controversial novel with all measures.

I have not read the novel and I do not plan to read it ,already I doubt that it is already in Egypt but based from what I read I am amazed that Sherry in her first novel decided not to only take this part from history of Islam to write about but also to write through the eyes of a woman who lived from 14 centuries in complete different society than Sherry’s by all means. Whether she knows or not Sherry’s view will be reflected in the novel and this is her problem and unfortunately we are not dealing with simple historical figures but with historical figures with special sensitive nature. These are the views of Sherry’s by the end of the day.

Of course Sherry became world famous thanks to the fact to the topic sensitivity and now she is a  freedom of expression of heroine. I agree so much to Abdel Rahman Hussein’s quote, there are so many books in the world needed not to banned because ban will create curiosity and demand for these books where as they do not deserve all that.
