Akhbar Al Youm Website is hacked because of a cartoon

Akhbar Al Youm newspaper website has been hacked from couple of hours ago by some hacker because of a Mustafa Hussein and Ahmed Ragab cartoon about Salafist trend in Egypt. "Update: The website has been restored"
A screen cap for the website when it was
hacked

The famous historical duo made a cartoon about corrupted politicians especially from NDP using Salafists and religion for political gains using their famous cartoon character corrupted businessman who wants to enter the parliament “Kambora

In the cartoon “Kambora” tells his aide Zizo to bring white galabiya as he will grow a beard to become a Salafi. He also wants Zizo to bring for his mistress a Naqab. Kambora wants to become a Salafist so he would say who is infidel or who is not.
The cartoon was published in the first page.
Akhbar AL Youm 4/5/2011
The hacker claims that he is not a Salafi but a Muslim and he does not accept mocking other Muslims and ladies wearing Naqab. He even said that no one dares to mock the Christians in this way wondering how the newspaper calls for dialogue , tolerance and freedom of expression while they mock Muslims .He is angry an and is wondering why the women wearing Naqab were mocked despite it is their personal freedom as far as I understand. He even wonders that Ragab and Hussein are Muslims !!
Kambora
I do not know if he knows these two for real and knows their cartoon characters or not. Mustafa Hussein and Ahmed Ragab made a set of characters in their cartoons that symbolize to certain aspects in our society like for example Ali Commanda “ the governmental official spokesperson full of hot air” , Abdou Moshtaq  “the politician who will die to become a minister” and Kambora “the corrupted businessman politician who won a seat in the parliament through bribing the voters with expired food and who cheats in the stock market”. From couple of weeks ago I saw a wonderful cartoon where Abdou Moshtaq is kissing the ass of SCAF in order to become a minister online , I did not know that the duo was back as they were split for years before the revolution.
Side note : I am so glad that the amazing cartoon duo is back again with their wonderful characters in Akhbar Al Youm, I think I will buy the newspaper again.
Mustafa Hussein defended his cartoon on TV tonight and said that he did not mean any harm to Salafists on the contrary he fears on them from corrupted politicians who can deceive them using religion. Of course I am waiting for the reaction of media shy Ahmed Ragab in his 1/2 word daily column in Al Akhbar. Already a group of Salafists have reported Ragab and Hussein of insulting Islam to the authorities !!
Of course the famous duo is used to this controversy , already the American and the Israeli embassies used to complain from what they considered anti-Semitic cartoons that criticized Israel in the past.

  1. During Sadat's time, both Mostafa Hussein and Ahmed Ragab were on Kadafi's assassination list because they kept showing him with his pants down and potty training.
I have always been a fan of this duo and although I firmly believe in the freedom of expression, I totally disagree with these kind of insulting cartoons which target a religion, race, or ethnicity.

  2. Good that you raise that incident! Another sad case of a Muslim hypocrite, who (violating his own religion) uses force because "he cannot accept ...". Quran al kareem teaches us tolerance, but that hacker being a wannabe prophet has his own agenda and his own religion which is not our Islam.

Really? You Believe in FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION -an Absolute Requirement for Any Society that wants to be Considered Democratic, Freedom Loving, Progressive and .... Belonging to the 21st Century (and Not the 8th Century as Islamism does), YET..... YET.... You Disagree with the Very Mildly criticising Cartoon (from what I can see and Read).... I am afraid, Egypt IS GOING BACKWARDS, Instead of (even Remotely) endeavouring to Join the Civilised, FREE, Democratic World and the 21st Century.....

  5. Here I am doing my link-enabling magic as per reader request. Egyptian Shaykh Abi-Ishaq al-Huwayni: Jihad is the solution for Muslims' financial problems. This is a must-see. Beyond parody.

  7. People who think that Islam has anything to do with a white galabeya and the niqab are the ones who insult Islam.

People who insist that mocking hypocrital opportunists who pretend to be pious Muslims for personal gain is the same as mocking Islam, insult Islam.

People who claim to be "defending Islam" but use or advocate fascist ways to silence dissent and impose their self-serving opinions on others, insult Islam.

People who allow ignorant fanatics and bullies to hijack Islam and speak on its behalf, insult Islam.

How shameful that more than a century later, some Egyptians are still not capable of understanding what the great thinker and human being Mohamed Abduh said: "I went to the West and found Islam but no Muslims. I returned to the East and saw Muslims but no Islam."

    Well said Alice!!!
The ignorance of Islam here in Egypt is shocking!!!
Niqab has nothing at all to do with Islam.
Copts wore niqab not so long ago in Egypt.
The problem with Egyptian Muslims is they really know so very little about ISLAM. They think that it is all about praying 5 times a day and choosing what foot to use to enter the bathroom. There is more Islam in the West for sure. At least you can go into any shop and not be robbed blind. Here in the land of Islam you will rarely find and shop or businessman who will not cheat or rob you!!!!
    Coptic woman in niqab!

  10. Anonymous 11:38 AM, to be fair, most people in the West don't face the typical choice many ordinary Egyptians face, of either losing their families to starvation, disease and/or homelessness, or soliciting bribes or "overcharging".

For example, in Egypt if a plumber charges you LE 100 for coming to your house and making a simple repair, he's considered to be dishonest, but in Canada, where I used to live many years ago, plumbers charged $120/hour for the visit, not counting parts. That's nearly LE 600 for one hour, but nobody calls him a thief.

Similarly, in the West they can't even imagine monthly salaries like LE 350 or 600 and the minimum wage that Egyptians consider so wildly high, LE 1200, is less than 3 days' income for a minimum wage worker there.

Yet the cost of living here is far from cheap -- in fact it's quite high compared to a lot of Western countries. Also, in Canada, for example, all citizens have access to an excellent free health care system, unemployment insurance, welfare for those who have no income, superb public education and free access to lovely public parks, plus a great system of public transportation that is not too expensive, etc. Poor citizens also have the same human and legal and civil rights as rich people, in theory AND in practise.

I wonder how people in the West would act if they lived under a system like the one Egyptians have been enduring for decades? I bet they'd act much, much worse.

The real moral sin is denying workers the right to a fair wage and demanding that they be "honest", hardworking and "productive" when they are malnourished, sick and unable to provide even the basic necessities for their families, including a decent education and shelter, or even clean water to drink.

Especially when those who self-righteously accuse them of being greedy are all too often themselves living quite comfortably (even quite luxuriously), not particularly honest themselves and producing much, much less of value to the society, yet congratulating themselves on their superior morality.

BTW, I'm not attacking you personally, Anonymous, just letting off steam about the terribly immoral SYSTEM that needs to be transformed before we make moral comparisons.
