Qatar World Cup 2022: A small step towards a greater achievement towards human rights

Qatar managed to do the impossible for real in hosting this World Cup tournament.

The impossible is not building huge stadiums and luxurious hotels thanks to the efforts and sweat of thousands of workers from around the globe, especially from Asia.

The impossible is not about insisting to hold the most important sports event after the Olympics despite the turbulent decade in the Middle East where Qatar played a role larger amazingly than its size and population wisely.

The true impossible that Qatar, that small Petro-gas-rich nation managed to achieve for real is to make many Western football fans as well as many Westerners, in general, defend LGBTQ+ rights and Asian workers’ rights after years of electing right-wing governments across Europe with anti-minorities rights!!

Who could have thought that!?

I mean the Daily Mail is now speaking about inclusivity!!

Now many Westerners who spend their vacation in Dubai understand and know that the luxurious hotels in that amazing city were built by poor labour from Asia.

I just hope that this understanding is translated into actions and those angry fans force their governments to boycott not only Qatari oil and gas but rather the Gulf’s oil and gas as well as to stop selling weapons to them till the whole Gulf Cooperation Council States above them Saudi Arabia and UAE fix their human rights record, which is not less if more troubling than Qatar’s records.

In fact, I hope that this understanding is translated into actions and those angry fans elect better governments with better politics towards minorities, especially migrants and refugees.

I hope that this understanding is translated into actions and those angry fans force their governments to apply the freedom of speech rules and inclusivity everywhere. Raising the flag of Palestine in Germany should be allowed like raising the rainbow flag and veiled women in France should be welcomed freely everywhere like allowing beer drinkers in the stadiums of Qatar.
