Happy Mother’s Day 2022 from Egypt.
Happy Mother's Day |
Taken in 1974, I wonder what happened to that mother and her baby. I hope they are well. She looked so beautiful.
I tried to know more about that photo taken in 1976 for a young mother from the countryside breastfeeding her baby with a group of women but I failed.
I think the photographer was a foreigner. I wish those who bring those photos up sharing them to be kind and share more details about their photographers as well.
Egypt and the Arab World celebrate Mother’s Day on 21 March every year since 1956.
I may have told you before that the idea of Mother’s Day was first brought up by famous Egyptian journalists Mostafa and Ali Amin who adored their mother.
The twin brothers originally were inspired by Mother’s Day in the United States.
Needless to say, I found out that Mother’s Day was not really an alien concept in Egypt because it was celebrated in Ancient Egypt.
Ancient Egyptians held their annual festival to celebrate “Isis”, the most famous mother in the Ancient Egyptian gods' Pantheon.
Interestingly among the many depictions of Isis as a mother in ancient Egypt was as a mother breastfeeding her son Horus, just like that modern Egyptian above.

Happy Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers in Egypt today.
