Coronavirus on the Nile: 25 months of Covid-19 in Egypt in graph

it is time for one of those monthly Covid-19 posts in Egyptian Chronicles and I hope that I will not have to do this inshallah soon as the pandemic ends worldwide. “Wishful thinking”

This time it is a quick look into official Covid-19 numbers in Egypt after 25 months since its arrival to the country in February 2020.

The usual disclaimer: According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in January 2021, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included.

Those official numbers represent the patients who enter coronavirus isolation public hospitals in the country according to official statements, not the cases in private hospitals or those who receive treatment at home.

From January to February 2022

The total numbers of official registered infected cases jumped from January “40,336 cases” to February “57,860 cases” by 43.4%.

The total numbers of officially registered fatalities also went up from January “883 cases” to February “1,439 cases” by 63%.

The total number of officially registered recoveries went up too from January “37,602 cases” to February “55,317” by 47%.

By the way, 6,741,341 coronavirus vaccine doses have been administrated in Egypt in February.

Compared to February 2021

The total numbers of official registered cases went up in February 2022 “57,860 cases” compared to February 2021 “16,473 cases” by 251% !!!!!.

We were on the verge of ending one of the most spread waves of coronavirus in Egypt officially and unofficially in February 2022. 

The total number of official fatalities cases declined in February 2022 “1,439 cases” compared to February 2021 “ 1,372 cases” by 4.9 %.

The total number of official recoveries cases increased in February 2022 “55,317 cases” compared to January 2021 “37,602 cases” by 47% 

I won’t add February 2022 to February 2020 because it is unrealistic to compare the numbers to Egypt’s first coronavirus case.
