Egypt at #Paris #Paralympics2024: 2 Golds on one day thanks to Mohamed El-Minyawi and Rehab Radwan

At last, Egypt has secured medals at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, achieving a remarkable feat by winning two gold medals in weightlifting on the same day.

Egyptian weightlifting champion Mohamed El-Minyawi claimed gold in the men’s 59kg weightlifting category.

This is the 25-year-old's first-ever Paralympic appearance.

El-Minyawi lifted 194kg on his first attempt, 198kg on his second, and 201 kg on his final lift to seal his victory.

In the women’s 55kg category, Egyptian champion Rehab Ahmed Radwan also secured a gold medal. Radwan lifted 117kg in her first attempt and 121kg in her second.

Although she was unable to lift 122kg on her third attempt, she still clinched the gold, outperforming her competitors.

This marks Radwan's third Paralympic medal, having won silver in both the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Rehab Radwan and Mohamed El-Minyawi have once again made history.

Unfortunately, their achievements have not received the media coverage they deserve.

Considering the challenges people with special needs face in Egypt, seeing these athletes not only compete on the world stage but also win Paralympic medals is akin to achieving the impossible.

For me, the Egyptian Paralympians are the true Olympians.
