Today in Egypt marks the Sham Nassim , our oldest feast and our celebration with the beautiful spring
Sham Nassim is celebrated since the days of the ancient Egyptian not as the spring celebration but as the "Harvest" celebration oh yes , as the word "Sham" which is in Arabic means "Breathig" was taken from the ancient Egyptian word of "Shamo" which means "Harvest" , the Arabs when they came they changed it to the nearest word they understood in their language which "Sham" this is the first theory the Egyptologists have regarding the origin of the feast
This is for this year historical information
For the celebration I would like to show you what I took from photos in the Annual flowers fair 2007 in Orman park last Thursday
That is the annual Flowers fair held from the 20th of March to the 20th of April for the Spring flowers under the supervision of the Agriculture ministrry , it is for selling flowers and gardens supplies , the prices were moderate except for the Baladi flowers , the pink balady flower below is sold for 30 Egyptian pounds per one
enough talking and let's enjoy some Egyptian spring
I took over 140 images , I still didn 't upload them completely for flickr as I finished my bandwidth ,OOPss but you can see the rest in Flickr
the similarities between ancient Egyptian language and Arabic are 55too numerous to count.100,000 ommon words.....same sentence structure in both languages the sentence starts with a verb........the feminie in Ancient Egyptian ends with... .......at like Arabic. Ancient Egyptian had a biplural........through its entire history Arabs( near easterns constiuted the the major element of ancient eGYPTIANS.
ReplyDeletewhat you have just mentioned verifies the above mentioned fact.
Morphological studies of mumies from the pyramid builders era showed shocking similarities with babylonian semites........
During the middle the unknown hyksos (where not much about their origin an reords and exact influence on Egypt is mentioned )wave it self was acompåanied by massive immigrations from the LEVANT TO THE NILE VALLEY..........
Also the modern kingdom of th arring ynasties hav witnessed was acompanid by another wave of semitic settlers in Egypt
ONE MORE THING FOR YOUR OWN KNOWLEDGE....THE FULL ARABAISATION OF EGYPT TOOK PART DURING THE FATIMID AND AYOUBID DYNASTIES WITH ARRIVAL OF MILLIONS OF BANU hILAL AND BANU SELIM ARABS IN EGYPT especially( Behaira, sharquyya and upper egypt) as well as Tunisia and lybia........
Happy Sham Nassim ya Z, I'm FINALLY back to my base after a (.....) adventure in Egypt, I don't know if I should be happy or sad!
ReplyDeleteCheers
what is the source of this information?
ReplyDelete[the similarities between ancient Egyptian language and Arabic are 100,000 common words.]
I read some sources [The Ancient Levant East] and went through similar infos but 100'000???
my source is Gamal Himadan's" the perconality of Egypt" I think that book must be a must read in all Egyptian hight schools...........
ReplyDelete@amre ,I guess you are mixing between the Egyptian Arabic and the Ancient Egyptian language , the Egyptian Arabic is the nearest to a mix between the ancient language and the classical arabic
ReplyDeleteI don't think that the full Arabisation happened at this time , may be earlier ,already as I know those tribes till now refuses the mixed marriage in Upper Egypt
in fact I think Egypt was the fastest Non -Arab country to be Arabized if this is the correct verb , don't forget there were already Arab tribes in Sham
The book of Gamal Hamdan is a great and for the first time I agree on what you said it should be taught in high school but of course a simplified version
@yellow Egypt , you should be happy for going back and sad for leaving Egypt
@aardvark , well amr this time has a strong source
Hemdan is not a source by himself, he is not a linguistic or egyptologist.
ReplyDeleteSo Hemdan must have mentioned that out from some other sources or Hemdan is bluffing !!!
What is the source???
@Aardvark , I don't think a man in the size of Hamadan will be bluffing or depending on same weak source
