Follow Up : H1N1 Updates

It seems that we are the H1N1 Era in Egypt move over H5N1 !!

Yesterday the health ministry had announced that there were two new H1N1 infection cases in Egypt. One in Alexandria and one in Cairo.

The one in Cairo turned to be the Columbian wife of the American expat working in an oil company in Maadi.

Her infection along with her husband caused the spread of a rumor in Maadi that McDonalds Tarek El-Nasr's branch was closed along with other fast food restaurants in the same building by the orders of the health ministry as one of the McEmployees were found to be infected. Of course you will wonder about the connection between the rumor and the expat couple and I will tell you that the couple lives in the same building of the fast food restaurants at Tarek El-Nasr. My mom’s friend lives there too. Simply after the infection of the wife, the health ministry on Wednesday had to check from the building and the restaurants in that building were closed only for one hour.

The second in Alexandria is an Egyptian American man who came back home to spend couple of weeks in Alex with family , he came on the 4th of June and he is currently in Alexandria fever hospital.

I think it made people scare that it reached to Alexandria.

Now today Friday the health ministry announced the infection of 3 new travelers including two Egyptians and one Syrian.

The first Egyptian came from Sweden then Netherland then to Egypt ,he is 24 years old.

The second Egyptian came from Canada “he holds the Canadian passport” to Switzerland then to Egypt , he is 18 years old.

The third one is  21 years old Syrian American coming from the States and was heading to Syria. I think the Syrians owe this to us ;P

It seem that our airports began to become active and opened their eyes for real.

Now the infection toll in Egypt has reached to 15 but there are good news :

  • First patient Mariam has recovered.
  • The five students from the AUC are recovering too.
