This is one of the best interview for Dr.Ahmed Zowail I have enjoyed it from a very long time. President Obama's scientific envoy to the Middle East region did not speak about politics or about the States as much he spoke about Egypt. Zowail despite avoiding to speak in politics as much as he could he hit the nerves twice by praising Erdagon and by speaking in favor of the Nasserite era despite criticizing the lack of democracy then.
What is bad in this episode was this rivalry between Mona El-Shazly and Mahmoud Saad whom Zowail requested by name, they were like just two kids fighting on who should speak in the Mic firs !!
By the way what he said about this breakthrough in genetics and genome is scary and great at the same time. By knowing the genetic weakness of certain population you can tailor a virus to eliminate them specifically !! I think only civilized countries consider Genetics part of its national security.
Returning back to Erdagon , what Zowail said about him and this scientific and technological advance in Turkey prove that the Ottomans are returning back too fast that we think.
Hey Zeinobia, i guess your title just says it all!
ReplyDeleteFor me, this is one of the rare times i hear an egyptian bestow a talk like this one here. Believe it or not i DID feel the honor of being in the presence of this man from behind a computer's screen..
As for rivalry thing, i think it added a light hearted aspect to the interview although it turned into unprofessional stupidness at several times, i think the problem came from how they're used to interrupt their guests, especially mona, she's really holding herself back with this habit. If you notice from his call, El Moslemany has this great balance between humour and serious talk unlike these two.
@anonymous , my dear you did not feel the honor of this man alone ,believe me :)
ReplyDeleteregarding Mona , she has to stop this habit at least with that sort of guests
