The Iraqi citizens currently living in Egypt participated in the on going parliamentary elections yesterday whether in Alexandria or in Cairo in a very civilized way just like in the rest of the world. They casted their votes in plastic transparent boxes we wish one day to have in Egypt. The Iraqis living in Alex had casted their vote in
I am raising this example today for those who say why the Egyptians abroad should have the right to vote in any national elections held back home. 7 million Egyptians abroad contributing effectively whether directly or indirectly to Egypt and her economy so why we do not give them back their basic rights of citizenships if we are using them especially financially. I do not get why we are chanting day and night with the Egyptian citizenship of a man like Dr. Zowail when we take that basic right of citizenship for him for years. I know the Zowail example is controversial due to the fact he is now among the Scientific advisers of President Obama in the States but let's remember that this is a person who is proud with his Egyptian roots and want to serve his country in any possible way to move from the developing countries category to the developed countries category.
By the way the Iraqi parliamentary elections in Egypt were not covered as they should in Egypt in the official media as if they were not held at all , of course we know why ; they have come in wrong time when we are calling for the Egyptians abroad right to vote.

In Sudan's general elections, Sudanese citizens who maybe dual citizens of another State that allows dual-citizenship and are legally resident abroad can vote.
ReplyDeleteRegistration ocurred in November and many Sudanese expatriates registered in the Gulf States, Europe and the United States of America.
Sudanese expatriots who are registered can vote for only one of the seven ballots that are available for the Sudanese in Sudan and that is for the office of the President.

I think it is worth mentioning that free Iraqi elections would not be taking place if the Americans had not deposed Saddam. It is still a dicey situation there but it is a lot better than it was under one party dictatorship.
