Sheikh Siyad Darwish was born today and Google Egypt is celebrating it with wonderful doodle that includes the lyrics of our national anthem.
Here is our national anthem with a different remix than the one Mohamed Abdel Wahab made, this version is covered by Karm Mahmoud from the Egyptian radio.
Siyad Darwish was the true artist of Egyptian people , despite his short life he changed the course of Arabic music upside down making it the music of the people instead the music of elite . He made songs about everybody and everything , he made songs about builders , about farmers, about labor , about Greeks , about Sudanese and about Egyptians.
May Allah bless your soul Sheikh Siyad, your songs were already there at Al Tahrir

Uh oh. U.N. okays military action on Libya. And then Libya airstrikes could start within hours. And Italy to make bases available.
ReplyDeleteI would have preferred the West to stay out and Arab countries like Egypt to handle it. For the West it's damned if we do, damned if we don't. If we don't, it's blame for not supporting democracy. If we do, it's accusations of stealing oil. Sucks to be us.
Oh, well. Let's hope for a good outcome. Free Libya! Death to Gaddafi! Allahu akbar!
"Cairo rejected Washington's request for the use of Egyptian air bases to enforce the no fly zone against Libya and from which to launch US air attacks on Qaddafi's army." --DEBKAfile
ReplyDeleteLame.
