Coronavirus on the Nile : A quick look in graph to the statistics released by Egypt's Health Ministry

From two days ago, Egypt’s Minister of Health Hala Zayed held a press conference where she shared very important statistics and people just ignored despite their importance in the current COVID-19.

Those statistics show the most vulnerable age segments to this virus as well as the most vulnerable patients.

These are the official numbers based on the people are currently in the quarantine hospitals and facilities.

Till date, Egypt recorded 50,437 coronavirus patients including 13,528 fully recovered patients and 1,938 fatalities.

The Egyptian officials realize and admit that the number of coronavirus patients can be more than what it is declared officially

Now according to the official numbers released by the Health Ministry,  know now that 60% of the coronavirus deaths happened in the above 60 years old age group since the outbreak in mid-February till the mid-June according to the official numbers.

This is why our elderly should be careful and we should be keen on their safety.

Nevertheless, the coronavirus infection rate reaches 80% among the 30 to 60 years old group while only 20% of the above 60 years age group are infected.

So if we are speaking about 60% of COVID-19 deaths happen in the above 60 years age group; which is only 20% of the total infected patients in Egypt then we are speaking about scary rate among the elderly.

Now to other worrying numbers concerning the chronic diseases patients in Egypt.

95% of the COVID-19 fatalities happen to chronic diseases patients.

The Ministry of Health did not release this number officially in its statement but it appeared in the photos ‘including the one above’ that 10.5% of the current patients in quarantine suffer from diabetes.

It is scary and worrying because according to the Ministry of Health’s official numbers more than 80% of deaths in the country are caused by chronic diseases above them heart diseases (46%) followed by cancer (14%)

According to gender, 55% of the coronavirus are men while the rest are women.

According to the official health survey conducted in 2017, 29.5% of Egyptians suffer from High Blood pressure while 15.5% of Egyptians suffer from diabetes

If anything those numbers shows that there is no big difference and there is no stronger sex.

So whether you are man or woman in Egypt in the age between 30-60 years old, your chances are higher to contract coronavirus, there is a bigger chance that you won’t show any symptoms.

There is a big chance that you may transmit it to others in your circle whether elderly over 60 years or chronic disease patients and it won’t be an easy ride for them all and the numbers above show that.

Thus, as much as I can and I know it is hard after all that it is better to stay home to stay safe.

So far Coronavirus killed Egyptians from all adult ages and classes, it must not be underestimated at all. I am tired of opening Facebook to see people mourning their friends and relatives who lost their battle against this evil virus.
