Here are some nice videos showing this nice custom that has spread in Egypt in recent years: Releasing coloured balloons outside mosques and public squares where the Eid prayers are held to make people especially children happy.

It is held in many areas whether upper class or working class and it has always the same result.

Some Arabs say that this is the first time they see something like that related to the Eid prayer and honestly I hope it spreads in their countries too.

Now in some areas like in old Cairo in front of the Ancient Amr Ibn Al-Asa Mosque, Egypt's oldest mosque, the residents in the building in front of the mosque throw small toys into the children who came with their parents to pray.

I do not know when exactly or how it started in Egypt but it spread and it is really cheerful. I am glad it continues.
