Coronavirus on the Nile: 19 months of Covid-19 in Egypt in graphs

This time it is a quick look into official Covid-19 numbers in Egypt after 19 months since its arrival to the country in February 2020.

From 2020 "Sensitizing airports in Egypt from AFP"

According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included.

Those official numbers represent the patients who enter the ICUs in designated coronavirus isolation public hospitals in the country in critical condition according to official statements, not the mild cases of coronavirus or those who receive treatment at home.

Here is the graph, it is interactive so you can click on it and click on the tabs to compare between 2020 and 2021.

From July 2021 to August 2021 in Egypt

The total numbers of official registered cases went up from   July “2,980 cases” to August “4,179 cases” by 40.2%.

The total numbers of officially registered fatalities went down too from July “ 355 cases” to August  “212 cases” by 40.2%.

Meanwhile, the total number of officially registered recoveries also went down from July “18,984 cases” to August “8,975” by 52.7%

Comparing to August 2020 in Egypt

Now compared to August 2020, the numbers of the daily cases recorded are interestingly similar.

The total numbers of official registered cases declined in August 2021 “4,179” cases” comparing to August 2020 “4,861 cases” by 13%

The total number of official fatalities cases declined in August 2021 “212 cases” comparing to August 2020 “ 616 cases” by 65.5%.

Again there is no doubt that the amount of knowledge and experience the Egyptian medical sector got in August 2021 is bigger than in August 2020 and that’s why the fatalities in August 2021 is less than in August 2020

The total numbers of official recoveries cases decreased in  August 2021 “8,975 cases” comparing to August 2020 “33,291 cases” by 73%.
