How Can We help Morocco Now after the deadly quake ?

Morocco was hit with a deadly 6.8 degrees earthquake on Friday killing in a few moments 2000 according to the latest death toll officially released by Moroccan State TV.

According to scientists, it is the worst earthquake the North African country has seen in 120 years. Yes, it is worse than the deadly 5.8 degrees Agadir earthquake in 1960. One only can pray that the number of victims would be less “inshallah it will be less” than in 1960.

For the sake of SMA Children , Sign this petition

For the sake of SMA children, I ask you to sign this important petition and to spread everywhere online.

Families of children suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy "SMA" have been sending pleas for years now to everyone in order to save their children from that cruel disease.

Launched by one of the mothers of SMA children, the petition is calling Egypt's President El-Sisi and Minister of Health Hala Zayed to issue a decree to include SMA's medicine in the medical insurance in Egypt.

Most of you do not know that SMA has got the most expensive treatment system in the whole world and with the struggling Egyptian economy, it is like fighting an impossible battle but the families fight it either way.
Late Khadijah, one of the famous SMA
children on social media.

Parents of SMA children use social media asking for donations and help but this is not a solution.

The petition asks the Egyptian government to provide Sprinza drug which helps SMA children a lot to improve their health condition.

Its only problem is its price tag. Its costs in the United States starts at $ 750,000 in the first year and $375,000 annually after that.

Already I believe that as Egypt heads the African Union this year, it is a good opportunity to speak not only about SMA Egyptian children but rather African SMA children in general.

The Egyptian government can go in talks with the company producing Sprinza with the help of the UNICEF and WHO to get it for a better price.

It is unfair by all measures that SMA children suffer from it in that way in third world countries.

A rare neurological genetic disease, even the richest countries in the world provide its treatment in its medical insurance system for some of its types.

Currently, SMA is making headlines again with its newly approved medicine, Zolgensma.

Newly approved by FDA, Zolgensma is dubbed rightly so as the most expensive drug in history for USD 2.1 million for a single dose, yes a single dose.

BY the way, Khadijah Mamdouh who was one of the girls mentioned in the 2018 Ahram Online report passed away earlier this year following a long struggle with that terrible disease. She is the second kid I have read about to die in the past three years because of it.

#BanMiltrials : The Battle is on

This is one of the main challenges we are currently having when it comes to the Constitution 2012 amendments and God knows it is not a challenge more than it is a battle.
This battle, this challenge is the military trials for civilians. You see according to the Constitution 2012 vague article 198 civilians can stand military trials.
Here is what article 198 says “Translated to English by Dr. Nivien Salah”
The military judiciary is an independent branch of the judiciary. It alone decides on all crimes related to the armed forces, their officers, and personnel.
Civilians may not be tried by the military judiciary unless they are accused of crimes that hurt the armed forces. The law specifies these crimes as well as other competencies of the military judiciary.
Members of the military judiciary are independent. They cannot be dismissed, and they have the guarantees, rights, and duties that attach to all members of the judiciary.

According to Constitutional law expert Gaber Nassar who is also the head of Cairo University and a member in the Constitution committee this is a vague article.
Nassar gave a brief history of the military trials in Egypt as well in a series of tweets on Friday. They are extremely important.

El-Shatby hospital updates

There are updates taking place at El-Shatby hospital dear friends , great updates considering the fact that this case was exposed by the social media first from 24 hours ago only. Of course the breakthrough was when Yousri Fouda showed the photos on air on ON TV last night.

Today morning two army officers from the North zone went to the hospital to see how the army can help in the fastest way, they spoke with the doctors and officials and promised to act quickly. The problems as far as I understand are summarized in the following :
  • There are not enough incubators and neonatal intensive care units.
  • There are not enough nurses to serve all those babies.
As far as I know the hospital does not accept money donations but accept medical appliances. Also there are medical students  and nurses who are currently helping the nurses in shifts. Still the Facebook campaign will announce in couple of days how we can help the hospital through donations in order to buy appliances.

What is happening in Libya from crimes against humanity demand us as humans , as Arabs and as Egyptians to help our Libyan brothers and sisters in their quest to freedom and democracy.

Our Libyan brothers and sisters are in need of blood and medical supplies , 0you only can watch one the videos I posted in my daily posts about Libya to know the challenge the Libyan hospitals in the liberated Libyan cities and districts face from blood and medical supplies shortage.

If you are interested in donating blood or medical supplies to our Libyan brothers and sisters and you live in Cairo or Giza or Helwan , you can head to either Raba’a Al Adwayia mosque at Nasr City in Cairo, Cairo or Mustafa Mahmoud at Mohendessin in Giza to donate. Drop of blood or piece of cotton can save life in Benghazi or Darnah or any other liberated city.

The Launch of Mohamed Alaa Mubarak Foundation

Do you remember the Mohamed Alaa Mubarak foundation Quran recitation contest ad ?? Do you remember how I wondered who was behind it ??

It turned out that the Mubaraks for real are behind it. Alaa Mubarak and his wife Heidi wanted to dedicate something for their late son Mohamed and decided to have a charity foundation in his name to serve the community. They started with the Quran recitation contest and then will move in to medical care across the country.

Noble action for sure but from where that money they spend came !!?? What is the real business of Alaa Mubarak ?? We know that he is a businessman , fine where is his company !!??

Alaa Mubarak said a public speech that was his first in public and honestly this man got a charisma unlike his brother. You can watch the speech below after the break.

Mohamed Alaa Mubarak Foundation

Mohamed Alaa Mubarak foundation announces its big contest for Quran recitation
A scan
Without any introductions we found this strange ad in Al Ahram weekly issue first page today.
Mohamed Alaa Mubarak Foundation announces its Quran recitation contest under the supervision of the Al Awkaf ministry.
Did not the presidency express its refusal for the use of late Mohamed Mubarak JR name !!??
By the way this ad is very expensive , considering the facts that it is in the Al Ahram’s first page , colored and on Friday aka the weekly issue which most people buy because of its ads and classifieds.

The Language of Numbers : A deliberate Genocide

The former head of tumors institute revealed in a medical conference recently held in Cairo that between 150,000-200, 000 get cancer annually because of Insecticides, the carcinogenic insecticides used in our vegetables and fruits !!

When we will dare and ask who is behind this booming rate of cancer in Egypt , it has become unwelcomed guest in all Egyptian houses from North to South , from East to West , we have become a dying nation facing hepatitis from one side to cancer from another side for God sake !!

Who is responsible for importing these insecticides ?? Who is responsible for allowing them to enter the country and to be used ??

Who is killing the Egyptian people slowly and deliberately !!??

By the way you can donate to the old national cancer institute on the following account number in NBE : 777 or you can donate to the new national cancer institute building which is currently being built in 6th of October governorate on the following account number in NBE and Banque Misr : 500500

Help Pakistan

I am really ashamed of myself of speaking about this matter now, Pakistan is devastated and millions of its people are threatened by death not from floods but from hunger and disease.
It is shame that the Muslim world does not move except very lately to this human tragedy , our Egyptian media does not react to the issue as it should as if everything was solved when Mubarak sent an aid from food stuff when the least thing we can do to a country that helped us in time of war is to send a fully equipped hospital from the army.

Wanna To Volunteer ??

Vodafone Egypt foundation gives an opportunity to all those boys and girls who really want to change the world for real. You can volunteer for one year in one of Vodafone Egypt foundation sponsored charity projects for a salary yes a salary.

Working in NGOs is not that popular in Egypt because it is not a profitable and I think such initiative from Vodafone should be mentioned and highlighted , in fact it should be imitated.

Of course you can change the world without volunteering for a year through a little click here.

Hats Off Amr Adeeb

I usually criticize Amr Adeeb a lot in this blog , he is the TV host I love to hate with all his bias to the regime even if he denies it and his vulgar style of presentation not to mention his rudeness still I must admit that I respect what Adeeb did in the last flooding crisis. 3almazika-e92f923fbe

Amr Adeeb managed to gathered through his TV show donations reaching to LE 50 million for the floods victims in North Sinai and Aswan , I repeat again LE 50 million through his show "Cairo Today".

I will still attack Adeeb when he goes back to his usual wacky show but I must be fair , this is an impressive effort that should be highlighted and respected if not to imitated in other shows in time of crises.

Bravo Amr Adeeb and thanks to all those who donated to the floods victims.

The only thing I hope that is these donations reach to those who really need it.

Speaking of Charity ,  I will remind you of My change the world page

Just A Suggestion

Why do not we transfer a group of patients from national cancer institute "which will be demolished soon" to the children cancer hospital 57357 !!?? We can transfer the most critical cases at least !!??

Why do not  the talk shows and newspapers that exposed the agony of the NCI patients adopt a public campaign to help them for real instead of talking and waiting the government to do something !!??

There are a lot of people ready to help them in any possible way but they do not know how.

By the way have you checked my Change the world page ??

Follow Ups : Samih Is Not In To The Independent

  • Samih Sawiris has denied the reports that he is going to acquire The Independent newspaper with Russian Lebedev according to news reports from Cairo.Of course most Egyptian newspapers today are speaking that he is going to buy it
  • The court of cassation overturned the death penalty rule of Heba and Nadine murder Case yesterday, accused Mahmoud Eissawy has another chance and hopefully his lawyer will prove his innocence.I think the court of cassation saw that video and believed there was something terribly wrong in the procedures of the trial
  • The court of cassation will say its word again today in a very important case , the Suzanne Tamim trial
  • Marwa El-Sherbany's father has passed away after six months of his daughter's awful murder, family members say that Mr.El-Sherbany died from his sadness  " May Allah bless their souls"
  • For the first time Egypt football national team has become the 10th in the FIFIA/Coca-Cola world ranking and also No.1 in Africa
  • It seems that there is going to be a fight between Ahli and Zamalak clubs over Gado
  • You will not believe the millions our footballers have received since their return from Angola "Mashallah"
  • Tomorrow the football federation will hold a concert in Cairo stadium to honor our national team. The ticket will be for LE 10 and Amr Diab "Yes Diab for LE10" will sing in that concert that will start at 7PM Cairo local time. The revenues of this concert will be dedicated to the floods victims.
  • Tamer Honsi will hold a concert for the floods victims too at the Gazeera youth club in Zamalak "It is good that our artists began to remember these victims too"

Define “Disaster Zone”

Sinai Lighting Storm
The thunderstorm as captured by Lostlab
I do not get why on earth and heaven the government has not declared Aswan and Al Arish as disaster zones yet , the videos and photos from there are terrifying as you can see below. The people there need real aid , need real help for God sake !! The hospital of al Arish has drowned and officially we are more than great !! I do not know what we need to declare the two cities as disaster zones , what is the definition of disaster zone in that regime’s dictation !!
Check these numbers:
  • 1500 houses have drowned in the floods in Al Arish
  • 590 houses have been totally destroyed in Al Arish !!
  • 15,000 olive tree have been destroyed in Al Arish
  • 1260 houses have been damaged in Aswan
I understand the army as usual has saved the day both in Al Arish and in Aswan. It became a life fact that whenever our government fails whether in bread crisis or flood crisis the army comes to rescue !!!!
Regarding to the damages well according to my information personally things in Al Arish are worse than in Aswan.  Not all the villages have be damaged in the floods and even the damage level is different from a village to another in Aswan. Of course the people in Aswan are more fortunate than the people in Al Arish as the President has raised their compensation where as he forgot Al Arish totally as far as I could see !! The governor in Aswan seems to be better than the new governor of North Sinai as the first acted as soon as the heavy rains started where as the later was so misfortunate to meet this crisis and he has just been appointed !!
The people in Al Arish are accusing the government of causing this disaster with its stupid city re-planning as for years the stream of floods to the sea was clear but now the governorate ignored the warnings of the locals and built residential and tourist projects there to form a block in front of the floods. This is stupidity , real stupidity !!
Now Al Arish is split to two cities and up till now there are areas with no communications what so ever.
Here are videos from Al Arish by the locals and south Sinai by the tourists below. I could not find anything from Aswan unfortunately :(

The Quote Of The week : A Welfare

Water is welfare

Where Is Adel Emam When You Need Him ??

From two weeks ago when an Egyptian soldier was shot down most probably from the Palestinian side , we found Adel Emam suddenly  calling all the Egyptian artists and intellectuals to a stand in his theater to denounce the terrorism of Hamas. Some artists did go and it was flaming by nationalism for sure. The TV Channels aired the events so we can see how our artists are angry for the murder of this young man.

Now this week the country is facing floods and Sinai , Red Sea area and Aswan  are badly damaged as people there have lost their homes and some of them have even lost their beloved ones. It is logic that those people need help from everyone whether the government or the civil society  so I wonder where are our artists above them Adel Emam when Egypt really needs them !!!??

Nationalism means you stand to nation when it needs you , this is at least what I think.

George Clooney does not have the title “The leader” nor did he go and presented plays during the terrorism era in the hot spots whether in Egypt or in Algeria but he is going to hold a telethon today for Haiti ,the telethon event will include huge stars , real stars like for instance Brad Bitt and Robert Pattison along with a big list of singers and actors form around the globe. They are not from Haiti yet they are standing with miserable country and its people , some people will consider it a PR stunt ; well even if it is a PR stunt , it is not bad for the sake of the people of Haiti !!

Back to Egypt I can’t find single pseudo celeb whether a singer or actor ; even those from the UN organizations goodwill ambassadors speaking , even speaking on TV about the disaster in Sinai for God sake !!

Where is Adel Emam when you need him ?? DO not even ask , he is there when the regime needs him.

Follow Up : Egypt’s Floods "Updated"

Officially we have a catastrophe in Egypt whether in Sinai or Aswan. Mubarak has Aswan to see the damages there. The communications between the two cities and the outside world are nearly cut. The ministry of health has announced that 4 citizens were killed because of the floods where as 41 citizens have been injured . Of course these are the official numbers , we can expect much larger losses considering the fact there are missing people especially in Al Arish.
Sharm El-Sheikh is reportedly to be divested from the floods.
Sharm El-Sheikh
Some Eastern highways have been reopened today.
The government has launched a search and rescue operation for those trapped in Sinai or at least this is what they claim.
I do not know where is the hell the civil society from all this !!??
Update # 1:
  • The death toll is increasing from 4 to 15 from all over Egypt.
  • Here is a collection of video shot in the past 24 hours from Al Arish showing the floods , these are footage you do not see on our national TV !!

Update # 2 :
  • As expected all the aid goes to South Sinai to Sharm El-Sheikh where as no aid has reached yet to Al Arish.
  • Mobinil lines and landlines in Sinai are cut where as Vodafone lines are working.
  • There are news that the number of casualties and losses in Al Arish is larger than what is officially announced.
  • Mubarak has visited Aswan yesterday.
Update # 3:
  • Mubarak has ordered to increase the compensation for those who lost their houses in Aswan from LE 15,000 to LE 25,000 "I do not know about Sinai"
  • Resala  has started a donation campaign to help the people in Aswan , I do not know yet about Al Arish
Update #4 :

  • There have been clashes earlier today in South Sinai between the locals and the security forces, the locals are angry "and they have to be" for the delay of aid and the compensations.
  • Here is a photo from Al Arish.

Wanna Blood ?? Call 19447

If you want to donate Blood or if you want to know how to get blood for any medical emergency , you have only to call this number  19447
This number is following the ministry of health and hopefully they will answer unlike the Swine flu line which helped no one !!

A Single drop of blood can change a whole life and lots of Egyptians do not know the procedures to get blood and thus this telephone is very important

Again the number is 19447
