The First Step Towards Hope Starts With A Proxy

The ministry of justice gave restrict orders to the notary agents across the country not to accept the citizens’ proxies to  ElBaradei and Amr Moussa in order to run for presidency or to change the constitution unless after obtaining an official written clearance from the Ministry of Justice's main headquarters in order to issue this authorization !!!!!!!!!!!

I repeat this is an official order. I did not believe that the calls from Facebook activists would be real and people would go and issue this proxy  to ElBaradei mainly then to Moussa if it were not for this order. People actually went to the notary agents and wanted to issue this authorization and this scared the shit  out of the regime. Opposition and independent newspapers are reporting that people across the country , normal citizens went to the notary offices to issue this authorization and the employees themselves freaked out !!

Currently the ministry of foreign affairs in cooperation with the ministry of justice are giving orders to all our embassies around the globe not to accept these proxies there as you can issue a legal proxy there and according to news reports someone in Qatar went to our embassy in order to issue proxy to ElBaradei. The regime is afraid that the Egyptians abroad will stand behind ElBaradei.

It seems that our regime is afraid that we would repeat the 1919 revolution in peaceful democratic way this time !!

The public campaign of ElBaradei did not lose hope thought , they will use the popular proxies which I do not know how legal and validity it is in these particular circumstances. The campaign lately has claimed that Dr. Mona Makran Abid, Hassab Allah El-Kafrawy , Judge Hisham el-Bastawisy and consoler  Mahmoud el-Khodeiry have joined the campaign ; if this  is true , then it will be great.

You may consider it as a small step that was cracked by the regime and I consider it a huge one because it shows that our people are not that sleepy or passive as you may think or believe ; they seem that they want a chance , a hope so they can run behind it even if it were false hope. This is a very significant change despite that it seems that the regime has cracked for the time being.

Another Ministerial Reshuffle in Egypt

Today President Mubarak has issued a presidential decree of reshuffle in Egypt , I can’t say that I did not expect it because from two days ago Mustafa Bakery, who is close to the regime spoke of huge political changes and ministerial reshuffle in his newspaper ; of course this is a small one but still a reshuffle with surprises .

President Mubarak has appointed Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr,  Ain Shams university dean as the minister of education instead of Youssry El-Gamal who is under huge fire because of H1N1 spread in the school. “ The poor man  has been just vaccinated today at 10 AM then in 12 PM he received the shocking news!!!” s112008141497

Ahmed Zaki Badr is the son of infamous rude minister of interior Zaki Badr and he is not popular in Ain Shams university as I felt that he was appointed there only to crack any political activity in this very important university. His golden moment was his clash with the Muslim brotherhood students in  the university. It is no wonder that he became a minister , it is like a reward for his excellence in loyalty.

I do not think that choosing for the ministry of education was right ; not only our kids are going to be ignorant but they turn in to informants against each other now !!!!!!!! I just fear from this man in such important position !!

Little trivial information : his father served Mubarak also :D the father and son are in the President’s service.

President Mubarak also has appointed Alaa Fahmi as the minister of transportation, Mr.Fahmi was the chairman of Egypt Post. Fahmi did something in Egypt Post for sure but unfortunately he shocked us all when the plans of privatizing the vital المهندس علاء فهمي organization found its way to press. I believe this was a powerful indicator that the regime is taking a serious step towards the privatization of public transportation especially the railways.

Moving to the rest of the reshuffle , we found ourselves in front of changes in the governors of most of our borders governorates. The governors of North Sinai , South Sinai , Marsa Matrouh , Helwan  and Bani Sawif have been replaced. All the former governors had their share from political and also financial scandals. People threw shoes at the governor of Bani Sawif. I think Marsa Matrouh was replaced after that terrible carnage that took place on our borders with Libya at Salloum which most media does not speak about from near or far for fear it would spoil our relationship with Gaddafi , I believe the carnage may have been worse than what we know and this is why the governor had to be replaced.

North and South Sinai ; well we got in them endless problems , big problem !! In North Sinai you got this stupid wall , you got corruption , you got smuggling , you got clashes between the locals and the security and you got angry tribes. In the South you got also angry locals , poor security and human trafficking. I just hope the new governors will not repeat the mistakes of the former governors as much as they can.

There are news circulating about much more bigger reshuffle in the future , already you should know this year is a big year : The parliamentary elections.

Minority Report : Jehovah’s Witnesses in Egypt

It seems that Jehovah’s Witnesses are back to the media when the administrative court has rejected to recognize them in Egypt branding them as Zionists. Then Pope shounda has opened his fire on them in his first speech in the same week after returning back to Egypt , the pope was expected to speak about the Virgin apparition but he did not , he spoke about the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jehovah’s witnesses had entered and spread their believes in Egypt since 1930s and officially in 1951 the sect was registered in Cairo and in 1956 in Alexandria. In 1959 President Nasser had issued a presidential decree to ban the sect and its activities in Egypt and also Syria “during the UAR” , since then their existing has been illegal. During then the sect was accused of being a Zionist covert organization due to their believes. Currently there are about 800- 1200 Jehovah’s witnesses according to U.S State department’s religious freedom report in 2009. According to the same report despite being banned and also harassed from time to time since 2008 security permissions for groups up to 30 to meet were granted .
I remember the Witnesses in Egypt made the headlines when G.W Bush spoke about them once.
Last February 2009 the national council for human rights vice chairman Dr. Kamal Abu Maged has met a Jehovah’s witnesses’ European delegation to discuss the conditions of the sect in Egypt and Abu Maged told him to present for the society proofs that they are not associated with Zionism.
The government claims that the ban on the sect is associated with the Orthodox church more than our national security , for sure Pope Shounda III does not like it but I think he does not like other sects like seventh day Adventist church which is operating in Egypt for a long time since 1960s officially despite being accused too of being a Zionist covert organization. Of course I understand fully his opposition to them especially that there are unconfirmed news that there are converts to Jehovah’s witnesses from the Church already.
Honestly I do not feel comfortable with Jehovah’s witnesses’ believes regarding their relation with the state and the blood transfusion. I think I agree with Dr. Abu Maged that the sect has to prove it is part of the Egyptian society respecting its laws. It is matter of confidence and trust.

10 PM’s Emad El-Din Adib Special

Emad El-Din Adib is the indirect secret media weapon of the presidency and the regime , a man in his experience and popularity is considered a treasure compared to all the regime’s media clowns who do not convince anyone. Adib is well known Pro-Mubarak supporter who criticizes the cabinet fiercely despite this cabinet was approved by Mubarak himself.

Adib was the special guest of the 10 PM show 2009 Finale last Wednesday , he spoke through out the episode about what he thought of 2009 and what his expectations are in 2010. He defended that stupid wall on our borders with Gaza fiercely making me feel that he went on air that night only to defend this stupid wall.  He also defended the economic policies of the government , there was a debate between him and Mona on this and about the open market system.

Here are some clips from the interview.

Mona was tired that night as she has just returned from Ethiopia covering the prime minister’s trip to source of the Nile, she did not even change her clothes. Of course unlike what Mohamed Ali Ibrahim in Al Gomhouria claims she was an excellent interviewer in front Adib.

Gaza Freedom Marchers Vs. In General Freedom Haters

In the past two days the Egyptian regime showed its ugly face to the Gaza freedom marchers , that face Egyptian activists know very well , this violent aggressive face.

7 protesters were injured in this protest.
It is shame and sad that the Egyptian people are just spectators thanks to fear and the problems  they are already having in their own country. It is shame and sad that we are treat our guests in this disgusting way. My only solace is that what happened in this protest on the 31st was a documented proof on the brutality of our regime in front of the whole world.
Yesterday the first day in the new year there was a protest in front of the Israeli embassy , of course it was the protest of these foreign activists.
By the way I do not know how French peace activist Marie Renee has passed away in one of our hospitals , I found this website claiming that she was killed by Egyptian police where as today in his daily Column at Al Dostour Daily Egyptian journalist Gamal Fahmi claims that the 68 years French activist died because of the hunger strike. I feel so sorry  and angry for Renee , may she rest in peace still I wish that she was not killed by the Egyptian police.
Update #1
Marie Renee has passed away because of a heart attack after the protest , may she rest in peace

Do Not Distract The Public

I think I will have to re-think about what I said before about Amr Moussa. Dr. Moussa is insisting on sending mixed message on his future plans after leaving the Arab league.
He will resign from the league and will be free for public service just like Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei. I do not get it.
Then we get a respectable man like Mansour Hassan saying in Al Wafd that if there are constitution amendments he will run for presidency too !!!?? I like Mansour Hassan but I can’t imagine him as a president !!?? Anyhow what is going on !!?? I know there are rumors that President Sadat was going to choose as vice president instead of Mubarak but did not have a chance to sign the decree because of his assassination. “I read that Kamal Hassan Ali was also said to be chosen instead of Mubarak too , it seems that in either ways Sadat was going to change his vice but fate had other plans there.”
This will distract the public on whom they will give support in the next presidential elections !!
Anyhow Why did suddenly the presidency become so attractive !!?? Now they are speaking about it widely open after years of indirect hints !!?? Well ElBaradei for sure brought change.
