Why Is The U.S Afraid Of Mubarak’s Regime !!?

The Washington Post has published today a very nice editorial where it asks a very interesting question : Why is the U.S afraid of Egypt !?
Of course the correct the question should be “Why is the U.S afraid of Mubarak’s regime?”  and the simple answer will be “because the U.S administration needs the Mubarak regime despite all its flaws and fiascos.”
Again and again the States wants and does not want the Mubarak regime, it wants that corrupted regime because it is the best friend for Israel now in the region aside being one of its main allies still it does not want to be associated with a corrupted dictator regime like the Mubaraks’. Aside from the public and international criticism as Egypt receives annually billions of dollars as aide , the U.S fears that it will lose Egypt in some big public revolution.
If a revolution in Egypt takes place in Egypt , it may bring a democratic regime that really represents the Egyptian people and serves their best interest. Our best interest may not be “and it is not actually the best interest of Israel before America”. Again having a democratic regime in Egypt does not win a war with Israel , this is a stupid myth just like the myth that without Mubarak regime , the Islamist will take over !!
It is not a fear relation more about a benefit relation.

Jaws : Sharm Sharks

Jaws by Tom Whalen
I think many of you have been following that new real life “Jaws” taking place in Sharm El-Sheikh in the past 4 days , I have been following it since  the news came from Sharm through twitter : A Russian tourist suffered from huge injuries as a result of a shark attack , another 3 Russian tourists suffered from similar horrible injuries that needed treatment in Cairo from shark’s bites..etc
Later we found out that there was or were hungry sharks roaming the Sharm El-Sheikh shores forcing the resorts to close its shores temporarily in the area until the menace is over and people can snorkel again. Then the news came on Friday , the government managed not only to hunt down one Shark but two and the shores were open again. It is not a real good news because HEPCA issued a statement saying that the two sharks caught or hunted down last Friday were the wrong ones !!
Here is a video from Al Wafd portal showing how the fishermen got the two sharks.

Alaa Al Aswany Speaks About Elections , Democracy And Anti-Semitism Charges

Alaa Al-Aswany was Yosri Fouda’s guest on air in “Last word” on “ON TV” last Friday and it was very important and worth to be watched. Siyad Badawy , the leader of Al Wafd party was supposedly going to appear on the show to speak about the elections and the decision of the party to boycott the parliament but he declined. Siyad Badawy claims that he is waiting for the general meeting of the party’s high committee next Monday before speaking to the media yet according to unofficial sources Badawy received a warning from the state security to speak on air. You can watch the episode below after the break.

The Carmel Fire

Since last Friday there has been a massive bushfire in the forests of the mount Carmel area , north of Israel that forced the Israeli government to ask help from the world countries to stop the fire that killed about 41 people and burned thousands of acres in Carmel.  Mubarak sent immediately in no time the firefighting planes to Israel ,Greece and Turkey  sent their firefighting planes too along with UK, U.S , Azerbaijan and Romania.  The big surprise is that the IAF is not trained or equipped enough unlike its picture portrayed in the media.

Here is a photo gallery from the Mt. Carmel bushfire showing the fire itself, the Greek and Turkish pilots “Can’t find photos for the Egyptian pilots” and people’s reaction “very few photos”

Elections Aftermath : The Circus Is Not Over Yet

The parliamentary elections circus is not over yet and nobody knows when it will be over especially with Al Wafd and MB’s decision to boycott the election and the court order to invalidate the elections in Alexandria , yes in the whole governorate.
The second round from the elections will be held tomorrow and we are all expecting that despite the decision of Al Wafd and MB we will find them scoring seats in the parliament this year as an attempt from the NDP regime to seduce them in a very silly way.
There is no doubt that this election is among the worst elections we have ever had since we started our parliamentary life in the 19th century , this is the least thing can be said about the elections where the ruling party wins about 95% of the seats in the parliament in the first round !!

Voting Girl 2010 Edition : Parliamentary Elections Round 1

And here she is or was  , the voting girl 2010 edition who was a model citizen and voted in the Parliamentary elections 2010  of Egypt. I know I should have written this post last Sunday 28th November 2010 but for being busy in the Wikileaks I could not write my experience in the polling station in time as it is my habit.

Anyhow here we were on the Sunday 28th Nov 2010 , a big day indeed and if you were following me on twitter you will know that I could not find my Voting ID for hours still I was not eager to go and vote or to be accurate I was between going to vote and not going to vote due the reports I was receiving from twitter and Facebook on how bloody this day was. Even if I wanted to go to vote , I had to choose either to elect real candidates or invalidate my voting and write the name of Khaled Said or Mohamed ElBaradei in the ballot card.

Anyhow after couple of hours  I found the voting id in my money purse where I left it after my voting girl 2010 edition : Shura elections experience !! There were still two hours before the official closure of the polling stations across the country and I thought that this was a sign for me to go and vote despite all what had been happening.

What Does Zenawi want !!??

Zenawi "Reuters"
Despite we are busy in the Parliamentary elections of 2010 , we all followed with huge attention the statements or rather the war of words Ethiopian PM Zenawi launched against Egypt and the usual weak reaction of Cairo. To be honest I was surprised because at the same week Zenwai launched his war of the words , a delegation from the Ethiopian Church visited the Egyptian Saint Mark orthodox Church in a very rare incident. The Ethiopian church used to follow the Coptic Church of Alexandria till 1948. Also there was that successful trip for Egyptian physicians there where they presented medical aid to the Ethiopian in cooperation with the ministry of health.
We know very well that the war option is actually not option now ,we are not in the 1970s when President Sadat threatened Ethiopia with military action despite the fact that Nasser was the one who started the covert operations game . Already lots of people do not know how that threat came or why. Of course the Nasserites are blaming the Sadat for that as if Mubarak has not stayed longer than both Nasser and Sadat together.
