Iran's Jews reject cash offer to move to Israel | Iran | Guardian Unlimited

Bravo for the Iranian Jews , I wish that the same thing happed in the case of the Egyptian Jews but of course it would be unfair to compare between the situation of Jews in Iran and in Egypt

after all Iran for decades had a good relations with Israel on the contrary to Egypt

The Egyptian Jews despite the common belief were not harmed at first in the 1940s or 1950s because of the Egyptian-Israeli wars more it was because of series of unfortunate events

When I speak about the Egyptian Jews and their second exodus from Egypt in the 20th century the first thing pumps in my mind is the nationalization policies , of course some like to make as policies hunting down the Jews and let me tell you the nationalization policies did not leave a Muslim or a Christian or a Jew alone ,the impact on the Jews was more obvious because they were controlling a percentage of the economy not to be described as small at all , also we should not forget that many of these Jews were from western descendent came and lived in Egypt in the 19th century opening their huge businesses like department stores

The nationalization from one side and the Israeli wars from another side made it hard for them to continue ,at least most of them , I believe their situation was similar to the situation of Muslims in America since 9/11 , the only difference was that the Egyptian people were more wise enough and tolerant

Already for the record most of the Egyptian Jews did not head for Israel , most of them went to France , the United States and South America especially Brazil

Now the Jewish Community is less than 10,000 in Egypt , most of them are old people whose ages are over 50 years,  they are always accused of treason because of the American and Israeli Embassies support to them in Newspapers , but to tell the truth they would not have gone to the American and Israeli Embassies if the Egyptian government  in Cairo cared for them in the first place . Unfortnately they are dealing with them as a dying community!!

Strangely on the official level we are having excellent relations with Israel compared to Iran !!

  1. How could Israel be the staunch enemy of Iranian rulers? while Iranians are ethnically cleansing Arabs in Iraq, are working their best to destabilise Iraq, and are supporting the Iraq’s vichy government. They peaked their policies recently by issuing an agreement with U.S on a broad policy in Iraq( steal the oil, de-Arabise and divide the country)

Thereby, Iran has dealt Israel one big favor by palying a pivotal role in eleminating Iraq as a strategic counterbalance to Israel. On the strategic level, Iran is actually complementing the neo-cons policy in middle east, except for the Nuclear issue of course.

Sooner or later, the two terrorist states of Israel and Iran hidden alliance will become an open parternship. So I guess that the Iranian Jews needn’t rush things, it is coming anyway

  3. So sad ...Egypt is celebrating 100 years of cinema and the Jewish community in the early mid 20th century played a big roll. People often forget that the Multi-talented Laila Murad was Jewish.

  4. Zorcool, wrong they never played any role in the Egyptia cinema. There was only one jewish director, togo mesrahi who by the way was not influential in any way whatsoever regarding the path of Egyptian cinema. Apart of Mezrahi, they never left any print that is worth remebering. As for layla Murad, she rejected jewdism, and declared her hate and disgust for Israel and zionits

You might wanna try the link it has some of the many Jews in Egyptian film you might just be surprised who was "Jewish." My friend in that long gone era they all considered them selves Masrieen to the core

  8. @babylon , you remind me with Amr who commented belwo , I am sorry but when I speak about the Jews,I try to remember that there is difference between the jews and zionists
plus what do you want the Iranians to do with the Iranian Jews ?? to kill them
here I am talking about a Minority here

@just for correction Zero Cool Laila Muard used to be a jew then she converted after marrying Answar Magdy by her own well , Magdy was not the type who cared for religion that much
yet you are right there are many Jews that contributed to the EGyptian cinema , by the way they are remembered very well not by the people who are usually not familiar with the history of the Cinema itself but by the cinematic historians

@Amr ,please don't start this , for God Sake Togo Mazahri did nothing !!
For God Sake it is enough that he discovered the fantastic Laila Muard, what about a Movie called Salamah ,what about Laila bent El-Reef
oh my goodness Togo Mazharai did nothing please read this study

It is not about him dear , what about the Lama brothers , what about Bashara Wakim , what about Elias Moudab , what about Nagima Ibrahim
it is about those who worked behind the scenes
come on Amr what about the series of films , the classical treasures of "Abdou and Shalom"
hey what about Dowad Hosny in Music , and Zaki Murad

look guys here we are talking about important era in our society ,the era of Hassan ,Morekus and Cohen
look I am not stupid and forget that some of them worked of Israel , the minority that made the majority pay the price
to be honest I wish that the Egyptian Jews were like the Iranian Jews who refused to be paid to go to Israel as I know the Jewsish agency hinted the poor Egyptian Jews to convince to go them Israel

  12. Amr , I am sorry but the Egyptian Jews were not expelled from Egypt , you are now repeating the claims of the zionists that the egyptians expelled the Jews took their money , bla bla bla , let's sue Egypt and take millions
The EGyptian Jews were not expelled again stop spreading lies that can hurt our history ,they were no direct order to expell them

Number two whether you like or not the EGyptian Jews helped alot in the Egyptian Cinema , I am sorry this professional history recorded by people who are no less patriot than you ,in fact because they are so careful to protect their cinema history they know very well what the Egyptian Jews did to the Cinema
