Egypt’s latest train crash death toll rose form 44 to 58 with people who are dying daily in the hospitals. Tragically in the same place at Marsa Matrouh any bus crash happened and 35 persons died because of it !!
Terrible stories began to find its way to the newspapers , parents who can’t find their children and families who were celebrating the GSC but could not enjoy the joy for too long. The Obituary pages in Al Ahram full of names of those who died in that terrible accident.
The tragedy is not only in the crash but also the fact the injured were not saved and did not receive the required medical care in the sole hospital there ; the Matrouh general hospital , the same hospital the minister of health Hatem Gabali described as a hospital for inhuman use !!??
The car accidents in Egypt are killing more people than any other way.
According to Zechariah Azami ,the NDP MP and the head of the President’s office 73,000 Egyptians were killed in road accidents last year in 2007.
Can you imagine the number ?? Monthly or on a daily basis some must got killed on the road.
This is time it is not only the Government responsibility’s ,it is the people responsibility to drive and they know that there are others’ driving just like them in the road. It is the people’s responsibility to respect the law for their safety regardless of those who break it . It is the responsibility of the people like the lorry drivers to stop taking drugs while hitting the road.
Of course again I will say that the government has good share , where is the good planning for traffic ??
There is something called Traffic engineering we do not have it in Egypt despite what is said because if we do ,our traffic we would not be like this.
Where are the 24/7 hospitals on these highways ?? in fact the Matrouh general hospital is the only hospital in Matrouh !! That means the hospital is not ready to serve its community .
This blood river on the roads should be stopped ,seriously it is about our future , every day I found young people got killed on the road.
Before we care about our image abroad we must care about our people.
It is so sad.
Our transportation system is just like any other system in this country , it need to be changed .
My heart goes to the families and friends of those who lost their beloved ones in that terrible crash.
