To help the Doweiqa victims

I think it is the time the NGOs help the Doweiqa victims and thank God I received this forwarded email tonight and I believe I should publish it. It is from Zed magazine “New Egyptian magazine in English

Dear all,

As you all must know by now, a horrible tragedy have befallen the residents of the already impoverished neighborhood of el Doweiqa, Manshiyet Nasser district. Overnight, these people who were already underprivileged, lost everything; their homes, belongings, families and loved ones. The official death toll stands at 31, with 47 injured.

Zed have launched a relief initiative for the families affected in el Doweiqa crisis. In co-ordination with NGOs and charity groups already working onsite, Zed team and a group of volunteers will be visiting the site on Tuesday the 9th of September.

This visit will be to distribute Blankets, and clothing items. Furthermore, it will be to investigate the needs of the distressed families, since we have been informed by members of the Egyptian food bank, that the food bank alongside a number of other organizations have already provided enough food for the victims, and that the food supplies there is more than the survivors need and is going to waste.

The second visit to the site is scheduled within a week, with more supplies (food, clothing, medication, mattresses and blankets.)

We are launching a track-able donation campaign, and we need all the help we can get.

You can contact us on:

Zed@zedmag.net

Or 0101900964

You can keep track of the donations on face book (search for "Zed mag" group or "Zed's relief initiative for families affected in el Doweiqa crisis" event).

The donations collected will be channeled into getting the victims supplies that they really need, and if not possible, will be donated to the 3 NGOs working onsite:

  • Resalet Nour 3ala Nour
  • Bedayah
  • Sama

Please help by donating or even visiting the area & please spread the news.

God bless you all.

You read the email and you know what to do if you are in Egypt ,at least forward this info.We will not count on the government alone.

Update : Thanks to my friend JPierre ,I have to mention that this email was from the managing director of Zed Mohamed Radwan

  1. The above is thanks to Mohamed M. Radwan the Managing director of Zed, who sent out the letter.

I think it was just ethical to mention the guy's name.
