What had happened exactly at the Cathedral last night !!?? Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei
went there after receiving an official invitation from the church. We all expected as a recipient of the Nile Sash he would be seated at the first chair at the first row as in protocols the recipient of the Nile Sash comes after the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt before Youssef Ghali. This is what we expected of course besides a naive expectation that he would meet face to face with Gamal Mubarak .
Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei went along with Hamdi Kandeel there but we did not find them at the Mass which was aired live on Ch.2 of the Egyptian TV , we did not see at the front row . The video below is from Dostor newspaper showing the arrival of the two men to the church.

ElBaradei besides Scobey |
Of course we know that the camera men at the church received strict orders to avoid him but they could not avoid the front row forever. According to this photo , he was seated beside Margret Scobey for some reason I can’t understand except to embarrass him and give the official media something to talk about.
“ Ibrahim of Al Gomhouria : He was sitting besides Scobey and they did not stop talking !!”
Strangely several times the camera showed Scobey but with no ElBaradei , did he leave for some reason earlier !!?
When the mass was over , Pope Shnouda III thanked him among those who he always thanks for attending the mass from officials and prominent personalities still he was not there.
Some people said Pope had ignored him when he arrived as the custom to congratulate him in the papal office but from the video I saw from Al Jazeera I think that the Pope did not ignore him
We understand the position of the Church and how critical it is in front of the regime but if they did not want him why they did invite him officially !!?? Already the man said that he would go and take a seat in the back among the ordinary citizens !!??
What really happened at the cathedral !!??
