From Baibars to Borat

Kazakhstan ,this Islamic Asian country is known to us the Egyptians as a former soviet Union country member , Muslims like us , other than that we don't know much ,I am speaking about the majority of Egyptians

Yet too those who know about the conditions of this country ,they would know that there are common factors than being "Two moderate Islamic countries" like what President Mubarak said last week in his visit to Kazakhstan

The other common factors are :

  • Both countries are allies to the United States
  • Both Countries' regimes pretend to be democratic

of course you can't compare which one is less democratic than the other !!

Still Egypt's conditions are far much better than Kazakhstan , you see president Mubarak admits indirectly that Egypt's need more reforms whether politically and economically but Nursultan denies all the claims that he is a dictator and that his country doesn't need any reform ,it is a democratic nation !!!!

Kazakhstan since its independence and with having more wide relation with the Arab Islamic world like to boast with their linkage to the great legendary leader Baibars who was a kipchak in origin despite he was born in a place near Ukraine

But they like to claim that he was Kazakh ,that folk songs were and are still made about him , I saw a carnival once in TV where they mention his adventures.

Of course Egyptians know him very well "Wa Islamah" :) Baibars was my favorite really ,I was n't attracted to Kotaz as I was attracted to that Blond one blue eye man "he was blind in one eye" who ruled Egypt and succeeded to make from it the center of the world in his time that people forgot and forgave him for killing Kotaz , I mean he was like Mohamed Ali Pasha when he killed the Mamlukes , also as I knew he didn't want to kill his friend but others pushed him for it by saying lies , and I also read a history book saying that Baibars became so just to the people and made all those glorious things in order that God would forgive him the sin he made

Look I am sorry but I always forget myself when I write about that interesting ruler

Anyway it seems that Baibars is not going to be the face of Kazakhstan as its people wish but in this age as for the west that dislikes Baibars "he was the man who stood against the Crusades and returned back the holy Jerusalem" the new face for Kazakhstan is Borat

I guess most you heard about this character and yes he is not a real Kazakh journalist , he is just a stupid comedian who thinks that he is funny and unfortunately some find him so , if not why for the second week he is heading America top ten movies !!!

I believe what he is doing is unethical ,you can't make fun from other people in other country in that disgusting way ,showing Kazakhes as stupid goofy people !!!

I saw the trailers of his movies , yes he is making fun from the Americans too but he is insulting another people in another country far way , all their mistake is that they are an ex U.S.S.R state in Asia and they live under a dictator's rule , they are victims

I saw Borat/Baron in Late Night show with David Letterman and he was doing whatever he always does and he wasn't funny at all

Look marking fun from other people's traditions is a common thing , we are in Egypt always like to make fun from the upper Egyptians ,considering them stupid despite experience showed us they are not that Stupid in fact they are damn smart ,it is enough to Say Gamal Abdul Nasser was an upper Egyptian and it is enough to say that Ramses II "The pharaoh of exodus" was from Upper Egyptian but Borat went too far

  1. I like Zooba so much
anyway about Boran ,I saw Ali G in Da house and I found him
at first it was funny this jounralist from ex-communist country ,visitn Europe and America , but then it turned to be a sick joke , I mean if you watched him with David Lettermen in late show ,it was terrible
it can be funny sometimes and by the way his movie is exposing what is called american life but are we going to feel the same if Borat was Egyptian journalist character !!!

  4. i must say that Borat is more like Egyptian, not Kazakhstan. His attitude (bringing chicken in train, peeing in street, etc) is actually same as Egyptian.

  6. Hi! I am ethnically Kazakh and I have mixed feelings about this text... I like the part about the movie "Borat", because even though it can be funny, the humor in the movie is very stupid. I know, there are some people who would rather laugh of a person falling, than of an intelligent joke. It's all about tastes and intelligence level, I guess. I personally, like some of the jokes in Borat, but still convinced that it is a degradating humor... When it comes to the part about Kazakhs making links to sultan Baibars, I think you are making fun of that, stating that he is in reality from some place close to Ukraine. I think when you come with such a strong disapproval you should check your background data more thoroughly. Baibars was a Turkic Kipchak/Cuman (from Berish tribe, that currently lives in Kazakhstan). Kazakhs as a nation is not a tribe name, it is a conglomerate of different tribes that have lived in Central Asia, of which Berish tribe is one of. As well, you know that he was blonde and blue eyed. Some of the people that nowadays make up the Kazakh nation were long time ago blue eyed. With time and the strong Asiatic genes we have become more and more Asian looking, but still today you can find green eyed Kazakhs.
