The searcher for fame

There are some people who are searching for fame in all possible ways , these people are ready to do anything in order to stay in the spotlight. We have our share from that kind of people and unfortunately our media is giving them chances by the orders of the regime to steal the public attention from things that matter like democracy , economy and health issues.

There are many examples in my mind from searchers for fame but the one that is in the spot light now who is talking in every Arabic channel here and there , Gamal El-Bana

Gamal El-Bana is the brother of Hassan El-Bana ,the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood and he seems to me that he is jealous from his brother fame and the controversy he left behind and so he seizes any opportunity and says a Fatwa usually is far away from Islam. Seriously this man is the opposite of his brother , there was something abnormal in family for sure.

Before stating examples on I am trying to explain here I want to say that I am not that conservative , but also I understand and know what My religion Islam had permitted and banned from 14 centuries , it is crystal clear in Holy Quran and the prophet Mohammed' Sunnah.

Also I just want to say , I do not know what does Gamal El-Bana do in his life to give a Fatwa ?? yes he is Al-Azhar graduate but does this give him the right to issue a Fatwa as he wants ?? Seriously there should be regulations for such thing.

Anyhow here are some examples from his Fatwas including the most recent ones : "The last two"

  • You can smoke one cigarette only while fasting "The rule is not to smoke while fasting because you taste a flavour, also is not smoking bad for health and religious men are fighting it !!??"
  • The Muslim can convert to Christianity or Judaism as long as he believes in Islam , in Holy Quran and in Prophet Mohammed {PBUH} "Till now I am trying to figure how but I can't not because this conversion is not allowed but because logically the other two religions do not recognize Islam and Islam is against some of the core believes in those two religions for example we do not believe that Jesus is the son of God, the core belief of Christianity so how that ex-Muslim becomes a Christian if he believes otherwise ??"
  • unmarried Girls and boys can kiss each others like the westerns as it is not a big sin , it is small one and can be forgiven if you pray and fast !!??? I do not have any comment on this

I think this man will stop issuing his*Fatwas* if the media ignores him. We got much important things to discuss , we need Fatwas about much important stuff concerning our economic situations , concerning our health situations.

Please ignore that searcher for fame

  1. So true, we are all obssessed with celebrity.

Things like this are sad because he is using religion and the fact that people are so much in need of someone else's guidance...to get famous.

Not to mention that most of the fatwas are quite absurd.

Religion should return to being a relationship between you and your maker...not a social thing.

  2. You are so right , because we like to show off and also because we are ignorant , we do not read anymore ,in fact if we read again and understand well our religion ,we will know important fact that you said , another problem is that we live in the takeway time , we do not want to learn or read we want to take the information quickly regardless of the source

I like this..what u said...the most "social" part of the faith should merely be the communal Friday prayer and Eid celebrations .

I also agree that sadly the Muslim ummah is ignorant and uneducated regarding it's own faith. Z is right. We just need to read the Quran and the Hadith to better understand our faith. It's not complicated but we live in a "fast food or take away" society.

I watch sometimes these religious phone in shows on the dish and people call in and ask questions to the Sheikhs (usually these Sheikhs are Saudis or Gulf Arabs but in any event). A few of the questions are genuinely worth asking but quite a lot are incredibly stupid. One woman called in and asked if it was halal if her husband played with her breasts during their intimate time together. Honestly, I was embarassed for this woman. The Sheikh was trying to keep a straight face. Why would you call an Islamic scholar that you don't know and ask this question on tv for millions of people to hear?

    It is sad. Very sad.

  4. Hi there

I think, that what happens with amny muslims now is a sort of hysteria..It is just rediculous to mix religion in every aspect of the daily life..It is so mad to keep asking somebody else: what to do and Is it halal?
It is return to the middle ages.

  5. look i always listen to gamal el banna's speehes, but i want to add that he is not using religion for fame ,it is just his thoughts , he is saying what he believes it to be true , and whether to believe him or not that's your choice. and about the fact that media should ignore him ,that's completely wrong cause we need to have more than 1 opinion because how can i believe that cigarettes are banned in religion if i didn't listen to another fatwa saying that it is alllowed, only when that happen i can diffrenciate and say which one is right...until that happens i can't say that niether of them is right

  6. @N.American, unfortunately that sort of shows are in every channel now , I know what you mean about these silly questions I even heard worse than that woman's question.

@anonymous#2,this is because the ignorance of the people themselves who do not want to use their mind right

@anonymous#3, I respect your opinion of view and it is right still Al Banna crossed all lines of reason in his fatwas as if he enjoys being different than other ,seriously I do not recall once that he said a fatwa that agrees with other shaikhs
