There was small news from couple of days ago the media in Egypt did not pay attention on it , I do not know because of the Gaza war or because of the regime’s orders. I believe mostly it is because the last reason,in fact the regime and especially the interior ministry are thankful that the public opinion is busy with the Gaza war.
Last Saturday there was a huge uprising led by the anti-riots soldiers aka the central security in the security forces camp at the military jail at Ramses in Cairo. It was a huge uprising according to few Press reports . About 6,000 soldiers joined it. According to the press reports also they destroyed the camp administration building and the officers recess cafeteria beside the military jail. The bloody day ended with the injury of 3 officers and the escape of 6 prisoners “4 were found and 2 are still on the loose”
The interior ministry cracked down the uprising as usual before the people hear about with more security troops.
There is an undergoing investigation in the ministry and the camp to know what really happened and why it happened.
The primary investigation with the soldiers showed the following reasons that led 14 of the elder soldiers to encourage their co-workers to rebel :
- The ill treatment they receive from the officers.
- The huge work load.
- Postponing their vacations As you can see these reasons are not big demands , in fact they are more of basic rights.
- Anyhow the day is saved and the regime can breathe again after living the short bad memory of the anti riot soldiers uprising in 1987, the uprising that insh Allah I will speak about in 2009 because these uprisings are what scare the regime for real.
- The anti-riot soldiers may be considered as villains in the eyes of many but in the end they are not villains ,they turn to be victims of poor economic situation and Police officers ill treatments. They are humans but unfortunately the government does not want to recognize that despite its fear from them.
- By the way I do not know if the angry Arab meant this incident when he was talking about the so-called Coup in Egypt yesterday. I searched for that movement he was speaking about and just like him I could not find it !!
- Look the situation in Egypt does not need Gaza to be unpredictable and that’s why I do not believe that any coup will happen just because of Gaza .
- I remember from couple years when I was in a college I heard a rumour that there was a failed coup and strangely I remember it was during the siege of Arafat if my memory does not betray me !! In the end it turned to be a rumour.
- Anyhow in both cases the regime saved its day.
Right now a coupe is the last thing we need. We dont want to end up with another Military regime or worse some crazy Salafi Wahabi Islamists who don't even know the true peacful progressive nature of Islam!
ReplyDeleteWhat we need is a Secular Liberal party to be formed and to care for the PEOPLE and for EGYPT FIRST! (secular does not mean no religion, just seperate it from politics and don't do anything to contradict religion, very simple)
Mubarak has been silencing the Secular opposition for years, and letting the fanatical Muslim Brotherhood have a voice, he uses this tactic because he feels the people will say BETTER MUBARAK THEN THE M.B running Egypt...But he really is playing with fire..
and where are they those secular liberals ??
