Political Porno

The administrative court ruled yesterday the ban of porn Websites online.
Banning porn websites is not the ultimate answer to fight back the fact "Sex" is  from  most searched words online in Egypt. Before the net there were and still are sex the satellite channels open to air for God Sake !!
I just fear that the regime will use this rule and twist it in order to hunt down the political websites and blogs. This is my only concern.
I am not against the rule in general but if you think about it very carefully ,you will see that it is too general and vague. I am 100% with the ban of the pornographic websites but how can you control vast virtual world online like the web ??
What is the mechanism the communication ministry and NRTA are going to use in banning porn websites ?? What are the criteria used ??
Shall the ministry declare the specifications ?

By the way if we want to fight porn online , we should fight it offline. I believe fighting prostitution and sex trade especially in Summer is much important.
If the government cares that much about the morality of youth and its future ,why it does not ban that disgusting music videos open to air on Nile Sat which downgrade women to become objects.
If the government cares that much about the morality of youth and its future ,why it does not help them to get marry by making their lives easier !!

I do not know what is going to happen but I fear one day that I find out blogger.com is blocked in Egypt because some porno blog !! I know ery well that the Egyptian regime is waiting for this day already.

  3. Why are you "100% with" the banning of pornographic websites? Is it wrong to have sex outside marriage? Is it wrong to visit a prostitute? What if pornography acts as a shield to rape?

Finally, why are you so feminist?

  4. @Mido, I expect so and this is why I am against it

@anonymous , I will answer you and say that in the west where there are sex outside marriage ,legalized prostitution and complete legalized pornographic industry ,there are still fearful rates of rape, pedophilia and sexual abuse in its worst forms with my all due respect.
Humans are not much more than sex machines I believe
If you think I am so feminist because I am against Porno then I am so feminist !!

  5. virtue never get imposed on people, iam sure even if they banned every single porn website on the INTERNET egyptian people will find another way cuz there is a will.
what we gonna lose really is websites like youtube and blogger.com, this is the real loss.

  6. Meh, it is a bad decision and it will probably be ignored by the Egyptian Government. It is morally wrong yes, but I believe it helps a lot in that society. It is true that rape accidents happen in Europe even though porn is legalized, but still it is a great help. Rape accidents also occur in Egypt, whether there is porn or not. The reason why I think it is a great help is because the rape accidents will increase greatly when such things are not available anymore, it helps sexually frustrated people psychologically. If it's banned, the rape percentage will increase in Egypt and the government wouldn't be able to handle it as you know and even though, like Bastawisi said, they will find a way to get their porn/fulfill their need, because there is a will for it. And yea, if they ban something like that on the internet, then they should ban the channels that are being broadcast on the satellite receivers... The outcome of that will become total chaos.

The solution is very simple... Do you get disgusted by it, then simply don't watch it. And even though it is prohibited by every religion, it is the person his or her choice to watch porn or not.

  8. I agree that we should fight prostitution in the summer. It is more dangerous in the summer because of skin diseases.

Lol!! you just want to ban it coz of skin diseases? No offense but that is hilarious!!!

With or without porno, life will go on and people will do anything to satisfy themselves. Here in Europe, nudity or porno is part of their lives and people can't be bother about it but in Egypt it is dangerous coz of the unemployment, social crisis and poverty that so many men unable to marry to satify their needs. It is true rape happens everywhere in the world but it would be worse in country like Egypt if steps are not taken seriously by Government. To allow porno shown on tv or internet will curb the rapes is a total BS! Why the Egyptians and the Government permit what the God forbid and they forbid what God permit. Dont tell somebody with high school or college education know more than Allah swt. What happen in Egypt right now because people in Egypt dont obey the Al-Quran and the word of Allah swt.

  10. Hey Z,
Well, i guess the title of the post is the most insightful ever!

This court rule has nothing to do with pornography, morals, rape or child safety... and i might even go as far as believing that its intentionally vague.

I fear Its just a 'legal' way to block (and prosecute?) unwanted Internet content, deeming it "unsuitable for Egyptian moral fiber & family Ethics".

I'm sure that we'll soon learn that strikes are Naughty and unsuitable for Egyptian family Ethics!!!

  12. @Bastiwisi , we are not going to miss anything because there is something called proxy !! India banned blogger.com for some time still the bloggers and the people managed to break the proxy.

@Medsha, it is not about virtue , the government will ignore it for 2 reasons : It costs a lot to filter the content of the internet , second the regime will welcome the fact that the youth are busy in porn than in political blogs by the end of the day

@Ice, this is why it is useless to impose nowadays

@Moftasa, I meant the summer season because of the Arab sex terrorism in Egypt during this time , may be I did not make myself clear because if I were you would not have joked about !!

@anonymous, I believe that the reasons that the rape and sexual harassment just as you said unemployment, poverty, ignorance. I agree with you that we should obey God but do you think that this decision now in this way is not right especially it is supported for reasons not so moral.

@!!?? President Mubarak said that strikes were wrong way to express our opinion in his last labor day speech ;)

  13. Zeinobia, I do agree with you the Government should stop all porno on Satellite dish and the prostitution now and during Summer when the Arabs from Gulf are flocking to Cairo. Egypt is a muslim country and Islam is the main religion and people should obey what is haram and halal. The problem in Egypt, everybody wants to be westernized and look to the west and they dont have their own identity to begin with. for example last nite Beit El Bertak show regarding EMO, few young guys and a girl supposely to be educated on tv and members of EMO but when asked what is EMO, none of them could give the right answer because they dont know what is EMO and they are just following the west blindly without their own identity and were so proud of it..what a shame.

  14. @anonymous, that episode was hilarious ,seriously hilarious but sad , those EMO youngsters agreed to appear on TV to make fools of themselves in order to be famous
