Jihan Al Sadat : The Mistake and Assassination of Her Husband

Al Masry Al Youm published an interview for former first lady Jihan Al-Sadat on last 7th and 8th of October on the occasion of October war and the assassination of her husband. The interview was indeed very interesting with Jihan's answers.
I tried to post the interview's two parts through Diigo service from two weeks ago to this blog automatically but for some unknown reason the auto blog post feature in Diigo does not work  anymore with me . "It makes me so angry"
Anyhow it is never too late to share that interview and highlight some specific answers that I am surprised the media has ignored regardless of their importance.

For instance the answer she said when she was asked about those who killed her husband on the 6th of October 1981
They were a tool for an unknown party , the real planner is unknown ; I kept searching for years along with my son for the real planner but we have not reached to anything. I even feared then to lose my son as I have lost his father.
I asked once Chancellor Schmidt who really was behind it ; Whether they were the Americans or Jews or a third party and he told me that I would not know but the day would come when we will know exactly what happened , nothing was hided forever in this world
I believed for sometime that the United States was behind it , it wanted to get rid of him as it got rid of the Shah.
This is not the first time she says this , she hinted several times that she believed there is a third party involved in the assassination. Strangely she was alone , several people believe the same thing including Talaat Al Sadat whom she attacked when he spoke the conspiracy behind his uncle's assassination ; well the smart lady shared the reason indirectly : she fears on her son's life.
This is the main thing that caught my attention in the first part of the interview, the rest of the interview she speaks about her love to Al-Sadat, her life after his assassination, his pension issue and when he hosted the Shah of Iran. It is interesting to know that the Shah did not want to call the Iranian Navy to Egypt to support him for fear it would make the States angry !!
The second part she spoke about the September arrests and again she blamed the minister of interior then late Nabawy Ismail , she also referred to the plans of Sadat to leave the presidency in 1982 as soon as Sinai returned back and where he would be buried… etc.
Three things caught my attention in this part :
What she mentioned about the constitution amendment of presidential terms , Gamal Mubarak and the current economic conditions in Egypt.
Regarding the constitution amendment of presidential terms , it is well known that President Sadat made it open for any president to run for the office till his death. She says :
It was a mistake indeed and I told him that it was wrong , people are not like each other , they are people in the end and after all those years it was proved to be wrong , I told him if you do not desire it , someone else will desire it
I think she was referring to President Mubarak after all those 28 years proved how bad that amendment was !!
Regarding Gamal Mubarak :
He is an ambitious young man and he is a future but he needs more experience.
Inexperienced Jimmy !! I bet what he thought about it and he believes that he is experienced enough to rule Egypt.

610x Regarding our economic conditions in Egypt now :
The gap between the rich and the rest of the people is big and what the experts speaking about is scary , it can cause revolutions
Here is the full interview : Part one and part two
I enjoyed really her interview this time, Jihan El-Sadat speaks too often but may be the questions and also answers were much more interesting.

  1. I read on of her book where i have noted her "negationism" about coptic's problem.
One of the greatest mistakes of her husband was his relationships with muslims brothers, Jihan El-Sadate mistake today is to deny it.
May Egypt go on the way of peace and prosperity, God bless you.
