Slimbox 2/Lightbox 2 For Blogger and WLW

I love Lightbox 2 effect and for years it was among the things that attracted me to Wordpress but then I know that I could have in my blogger blog with little script and little modification. In the following post I share with you how to have a lightbox 2 effect in your blogger blog with no pain. You can try it below

First of all I recommend that you download this wonderful Slimbox 2 script which is one of the lightest clones of lightbox 2 and follow the directions for blogger blogs here starting from step 1 then ignore step 2 as the new version of Slimbox 2 has a solution for this issue , then follow the rest of the steps.
Now regarding the second step , in the new version of slimbox 2 there is a code of activating the script automatically with any type of image ".jpg, gif, png" and to achieve this   follow these steps below :
  1. Open the extra folder in the slimbox folder
  2. Open the autoactivation JS file using notepad or wordpad "I prefer the later"
  3. Copy the code and close the file
  4. Open the slimbox.js file at the js folder and paste the code
You will follow the same steps to activate flickr and picasa webalbum automatically
This wonderful script works like charm with Blogger , Picasa and Flickr but it has a tiny problem with Windows Live Writer.
If you are addicted to WLW like me , you will know that among its wonderful features its lightbox and its clones support but unfortunately there are some issues with WLW and blogger.com that make this feature not to be achieved except after several tweaks .
1- Sometimes WLW does not recognize lightbox clones like slimbox and so you have to change slimbox.js name to lightbox.js
2- If you have your custom domain in blogger.com I advise you to read this post by Joe Cheng who is among the good guys in MS behind WLW.
3- The great (-h) curse which you will meet if you WLW , you succeed in uploading your post with the pictures but you click any picture in the post it will upload forever, well this is because if you open the post in the blogger HTML post editor , you will the photo with “s1600-h” substring in the end of its link , well you have to remove “-h” and save the post again. Of course it is so boring to do this manually , well do not worry because Cheng of WLW has a solution for you.
I hope that you did not get lost in my geek post :)
