Nawara Negm has been following in her blog and also in her daily column in Al Dostor the case of a Muslim Cleric called Mohamed Ezzat Mohamed Khader , who is being detained by the state security since last February 2010. Khader is a sick man and has not done anything illegal or against the law ,all his guilt was he was not a state security cleric !!
Of course there are other clerics who accept that deal whether forced or unforced.
That alleged dialogue in the last link between the state security officers and Sheikh Khader shows exactly how the security controls Mosques and clerics in Egypt. I understand that after the terrible experience of the so-called Islamist groups the security is keep a very close eye on the mosques , too damn close to the level of making Muslims in the country believe that the regime stalks and prosecutes religious and conservative people. The Friday’s speeches must be approved by the S.S if not written by the regime and distributed from the police stations , of course these speeches are politics and economy free. The Mosques are closed after all the Isha Prayers , bearded men are treated with suspicions and can be inspected in the street because of their beard and Of course we got the Naqab’s debate.
This is why some Muslim Egyptians do not believe or follow official Islamic establishments and instead go for Salafi and Wahhabi sheikhs and radical TV channels which in my opinion is more dangerous because you are raising radical generation without your knowledge.
The regime in Egypt does not mind having radical close minded clerics in the Mosques by the way as long as these guys will keep their mouths shut on what is happening in the political arena and as long as they are ready to cooperate with the security when time comes.
Back to Sheikh Khader , well I hope insh Allah he will be released soon without any comprise what so ever from his side.
