First of all regarding the Karama newspaper , Ibrahim Eissa is not going to become its chief in editor , he is the Dostor man and believe me this is better on all levels.
Second of all here is Ibrahim Eissa’s column in Al Dostor after nearly one month of absence and it is worth to be read because Eissa tackles very important issue and it is not related to the Dostor drama. Eissa tackles our battle for democracy and freedom against a 30 years old regime that refuses to leave and won’t leave except with one hell of a fight.
We should not give up if we lose one battle in this long war for better Egypt , for democratic Egypt , we should not lose hope if they close one newspaper and revoke a satellite uplink permit because it is long war , a long struggle against now only a political regime but a whole social and economic system brought up by that regime.
Yes our battles are short one , we seldom continue to stand against the regime long enough in any of our battles and that’s what the regime depends up : We always forget , we always get bored from pursuing our cause and the best example is ElBaradei quest for democracy. We thought that as soon as Dr. ElBaradei returned back to Egypt , he would take off his sword and led the public in to the Oroba Palace ; I know that we feel that next year will be the end of the world , well it is not the end of the world.
Regardless of what you and I think about ElBaradei constant travels abroad , I believe as a politician ElBaradei knows very well that downing a regime like Mubarak’s will take a considerable time especially that this is a regime that does not want to leave , this is a regime that has got old roots , this is a regime that is supported abroad by groups and countries abroad that do not really actually want to see democracy nor any good in this country.
We should not lose hope when we find out that the original Dostor is no longer printed , we can find it online , we should not lose hope when we find ElBaradei saying that he will not run for presidency because already we know that from day one , we did not gather around him because we need it
The thousand mile road starts with one small step and the regime does not expect us to complete this road to the end and it bets on this , the way to success and to freedom is to complete this road and do not let anything to down us

ReplyDeleteThe Egyptian regime is not really that strong compared to other similar regimes like North Korea and Baurma. It also has the infra structure for a democratic state. So on paper all the needed institutions are there.
The problem is the public is not educated about their right and the opposition is too divided too weak and some time not sincere to lead and educate the public to ask for political reform.
It is a vicious cycle weak opposition will not educate the public and uneducated public will result in weak opposition.
Once enough Egyptians go to the streets there is no stopping them. These were the words of ex-head of المخابرات المصرية
