The man who wrote “Whatever happened to the Egyptians ??” discussed what was happening to Egypt currently from his own point of view and anyone will agree that :
- The fiasco of the parliamentary elections is an evidence that the regime is preparing us for something worse than succession especially with the media crackdown taking place. “ I do not know what is worse than Gamal Mubarak taking over the rule”
- The Egyptian regime is a soft state. The law is only applied to protect the regime’s interest.
- There is a huge similarity between the 6 months prior to the 23rd July coup in 1952 and nowadays. “and when will the army move !!?”
- He is optimistic regardless of what is happening as Egypt saw similar days and even worse throughout its history especially in the last 200 years.
- The professor of economics in AUC believes that we are living in a modern day occupation where the U.S gives orders from its embassy to the regime.
- He spoke also about the middle class and its evolution from the 1930s till 1970s and then how it is being destroyed currently.
- We are the final stage of that era "indirectly"
