Coronavirus on the Nile: Egypt’s Covid-19 September 2021 numbers in Graph

This is the time of our monthly post about the coronavirus pandemic and its official numbers in graphs in Egypt.

This is the second September to pass in Egypt during the Covid-19 pandemic, unfortunately.

Officially, Egypt entered the fourth wave of Coronavirus in September thus the numbers of the daily cases but there is good news: The rates of vaccination began to accelerate compared to past months.

Disclaimer: According to Minister of Health Hala Zayed in early January, the official numbers of cases represent between 10%-15% of the real number of cases worldwide Egypt included.

First, the official daily cases of coronavirus in Egypt.

The numbers of coronavirus cases increased steadily and rapidly in September with an average of 20 to 30 cases officially.

Again we are speaking about the official count which is based on the critical cases admitted to the ICUs in the public hospitals.

Those numbers do not represent the real patient numbers or those who are treated in homes.

The numbers also increased as the international schools or the schools following the international educational systems like IGSE or American or French started their academic year in September.

Those schools returned in full capacity to the classrooms per the directives of the Ministry of education. Yes, the teachers are being vaccinated in coordination with the Ministries of education and health but still.

The big challenge is the children and the fact that the Delta variant spreads among the young ones.

A friend of mine has already tested for coronavirus again despite being vaccinated as her son returned back with the coronavirus from the internal school after just one week !!

Friends and colleagues tell me of similar incidents.

Moving to the fatalities official numbers.

The coronavirus fatalities also increased officially but personally, I feel less than in other waves. Nevertheless, the obituaries are back on Facebook.

The numbers have been steadily increasing through the month going from 7 on 1 September to 37 on 30 September 2021. “It reached 39 twice by the end of September”.

Again those official numbers are less than the real numbers according to the officials in Egypt.

Moving to the fully recovered patients, which is the good news in this pandemic.

Now if you notice the numbers were high at the beginning of the month then went lower and again we are speaking about the ICU patients in the public hospitals.

Delta variant patients reportedly take more time to recover than other variants as I have been reading and based on what I saw in the case of our relatives who got it earlier.

I got two family members who tested positive for Covid-19 and the youngest had to stay in the ICU for three weeks as she is diabetic in September till she recovered thank God and returned back home last week.

Now moving to the vaccination situation news, which is the real good news in September.

According to the WHO, 16,959,764 vaccine doses have been administrated in Egypt by 30 September.

Some 2.4 million out of 3.4 million employees working in the public sector including the education sector have been vaccinated.

Egypt increased the number of vaccination centres to become 1,100 centres across the country including 270 youth centres.

University students can go and get vaccinated at youth centres without registration.

The country has already obtained than 40 million vaccine doses in the past few weeks including the long-awaited Pfizer BioNTech vaccine which was sent by the US as a gift as part of its initiative to help countries in need of vaccines.

The number of vaccinated people will increase in October as now the government made vaccination obligatory for public sector employees.

The government is having a serious thought to lower the age of vaccination, especially we are starting to have the Pfizer vaccine.

Be sure to follow Egyptian Chronicles live Coronavirus coverage for the month of October

Just stay safe and register yourself to get vaccinated if you are in Egypt as soon as possible inshallah.
