The Israeli officials are doing what they had been doing best besides killing and occupying other people’s territories, they are spinning the truth and once again the Western media spread the Israeli version of the events in a way the Pravda in the Soviet era would be proud of.
The Israeli officials went into Western media in the past 48 hours claiming that the ICJ threw out South Africa's attempts to get an immediate stop to the war and it did not demand Israel to stop its military operation against Hamas.
Actually, what happened is the opposite somehow.
The ICJ rejected the Israeli claim that it was acting in self-defence and that it had no jurisdiction, in this case, accepting the case of South and ordered Israel to take measures to prevent a potentially ongoing genocide.
“The ICJ treated with contempt the argument from Israel that the case should be dismissed as it is exercising its right of self-defence. This argument took up over half of Israel’s pleadings. Not only did the court find a plausible case of genocide, the court only mentioned self-defence once in its interim ruling” former UK Ambassador and human rights activist Craig Murray said on his blog on Sunday.
Murray pointed out that unlike most of the EU and the United States, the ICJ did not affirm Israel's right to self-defence. This was only mentioned once in the court's defence, under the pretext that this is what the Israeli government claimed in its defence.
Furthermore, according to Murray, the ICJ's order delved into far more detail about the evidence of genocide than was necessary.
Indeed it did in the full order documentation “not the summary I posted above”
“The Court notes that the military operation being conducted by Israel following the attack of 7 October 2023 has resulted in a large number of deaths and injuries, as well as the massive destruction of homes, the forcible displacement of the vast majority of the population, and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure. While figures relating to the Gaza Strip cannot be independently verified, recent information indicates that 25,700 Palestinians have been killed, over 63,000 injuries have been reported, over 360,000 housing units have been destroyed or partially damaged and approximately 1.7 million persons have been internally displaced (see United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Hostilities in the Gaza Strip and Israel’s reported impact, Day 109 (24 Jan. 2024))”
The court stated also the following based on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) statements: “
“Gaza has become a place of death and despair.”
And the UNRWA commissioner Philippe Lazzarini’s statement on 13 January 2024 on the 100th day of war:
“It’s been 100 days since the devastating war started, killing and displacing people in Gaza, following the horrific attacks that Hamas and other groups carried out against people in Israel. It’s been 100 days of ordeal and anxiety for the hostages and their families. In the past 100 days, sustained bombardment across the Gaza Strip caused the mass displacement of a population that is in a state of flux constantly uprooted and forced to leave overnight, only to move to places which are just as unsafe. This has been the largest displacement of the Palestinian people since 1948.”
It is not a possible genocide, it is “ongoing genocide” according to the UN agencies and that’s why we found this campaign to punish the UNRWA now. Needless to say, Israel wants it shut because, without it, it thinks there will be no right to return for millions of Palestinian refugees.
South Africa got 6 out of 9 provisional measures by a 15-2 majority. The court ordering Israel to take measures to prevent a potential genocide is not a victory for Israel.
Unfortunately, the court rejected the request of South Africa to order Israel to allow fact-finding missions into Gaza.
The court ordered Israel to refrain from acts under the Genocide Convention (with genocidal intent) so despite it did not say “stop your operation against Hamas” it said above falls under the pretext of “stopping their military operation in Gaza”.
It officially said that “the State of Israel shall ensure with immediate effect that its military does not commit” any genocidal acts.
The court also ordered to prevent and punish incitement aka the statements of their officials, to allow humanitarian assistance, preserve the evidence and to submit a report to the court in one month.
The order is in English and French yet boldly the Israeli officials and Western media spin the truth.
Here is what the court said in the video.

The judge reading the statement is Joan Donoghue. Donoghue was a former legal advisor in Hilary Clinton’s team during her presidential election campaign.
Here is also an explanation by Palestinian human rights attorney Noura Erakat.
The ICJ has ruled that Israel must cease any acts that may constitute genocide in Gaza.

Renowned Egyptian legal journalist, Mohamed Bassal, highlights an important point: this is the first judicial decision issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel, accusing it of committing various forms of crimes against humanity.
While the decision on provisional measures cannot be characterized as a ‘judgment of conviction,’ the reasoning behind the decision leaves no room for doubt that Israel has committed numerous violations of the Convention on the Prevention of Genocide, he said in his article at Ourouba 22.com
I do not blame the Palestinians in Gaza who are furious for not hearing the words “Ceasefire Now” because if I were in their shoes, I would feel the same.
Palestinians who can’t keep their children warm and can’t find food for them or a safe place to sleep, do not have the luxury right now to understand the sophisticated international legal terms.
Egypt and other countries as well as some experts say that the court should have ordered an immediate ceasefire.
According to some experts and observers, the court did not order a ceasefire in Gaza, unlike in the case of Ukraine in March 2022. In Ukraine, there is an armed conflict with two sides that are demanded to "ceasefire".
However, in the case of Gaza, the court recognized that there is potentially ongoing genocide. Therefore, Israel must take measures to prevent the acts of this ongoing genocide.
Most of the Arabs from the Gulf to the Ocean know that Israel won’t follow the decision of the ICJ or in other realistic words, “it won’t give a fuck” for real. It has not already.
Not less than 300 Palestinian civilians have been killed by Israeli military operations that have not stopped yet so far since Friday.
Most of the Arabs from the Gulf to the Ocean were actually surprised that the ICJ accepted the case and some of them were angry that the ICJ did not say the words “ceasefire now”.
Many of them are surprised that for the first time, the ICJ recognized the Palestinians as an official ethnic group and thus protected the group putting an official end to the Zionist claims that there are no Palestinians.
“The Palestinians appear to constitute a distinct “national, ethnical, racial or religious group”, and hence a protected group within the meaning of Article II of the Genocide Convention. The Court observes that, according to United Nations sources, the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip comprises over 2 million people. Palestinians in the Gaza Strip form a substantial part of the protected group.” The ICJ said.
While the recognition may be belated, it remains significant. The court did not identify them as Arabs or Muslims - a noteworthy point considering there are Christian Palestinians, contrary to claims by the Zionist propaganda machine that they are only Muslims. Instead, they were identified as Palestinians.
Personally, I believe the ICJ decision is important in the legal peaceful quest for the lost rights of the Palestinian people, but it won’t be enough in this world. It is yet another battle in a long war for lost rights.
Israel lost this battle but it is trying to convince you otherwise. Do not fall for that.
