The Father of Egyptian Cinema Mohamed Bayoumi

First of all I must thank dear Arabawy for posting these great group of short films

This is the man we should celebrate in the centennial of Egyptian Cinema ,Mr. Mohamed Bayoumi

When I read his biography in the link below I felt so sad that he left in silence with no recognition from the country at all ,seriously this man is not less than Mohamed Karim ,after all look to the number of short films he made

Mohamed Bayoumi (1894-1963)

Here is one of his rare films ,in fact it was a newsreel and so it can be considered as a documentary , it was about the return of the Egyptian leader Saad Pasha Zaghlul from the exile in 1923 , the first ever newsreel made in Egypt by an Egyptian

It was called Amon Newsreel

It is so special to me because My great grand Mother in Alexandria "the mother of my grand mother" had attended the huge public reception in the harbor for the Pasha , she was in the fifth grade in "Nabaweyya Moussa" school for girls in Alexandria, the first school for girls in Alexandria , they went in some kind of a delegation to receive the great leader with flowers, oh yes my great grandmother was there , of course she was not in the documentary but this is why it is so special to me Love Struck

Anyhow stop talking and let's see the newsreel , don't be surprised if you find nothing except huge gathering of People ,I think already I missed seeing the Pasha

What's interesting is that through all those years the Egyptian Police treatment to the People didn't change at all
