What is that written in Suzanne Mubarak’s pendant ??
Is it from the Holy Quran or is it from classical Arabic poetry ?? or even an Arab or Egyptian local proverb ??
I know it is an original Azza Fahmy design and for sure it is al carte design but I am very curious to know what she chose to wear .
I like that necklace so much by the way.

Hello Zeinobia,
ReplyDeleteIf you got my first post please ignore this one.
As usual great post. After some zooming and enhancement filters. I could figure out the last two words which are "qadeema wa sabeyya". I had very difficult time though figuring the first two thirds. but when I googled the last ones, I've found the following bayt she3r about the Egyptian female personality:
"ka al ard 7enayena wa baheyya, ka al shams qadeema wa sabeyya"
i can also confirm that I could find twice "ka" and nothing to contradict this piece of poetry, So finally I could say with a high degree of confidence that:
"كالارض حميمة وبهية كالشمس قديمة وصبية" was the text.
Regards,
@HelperF1, oh thank you thank you thank you so much !!
