When Said Abdel Khalak, the ex-chief in editor of Elnba tabloid published the photos of late president Sadat in the morgue , all people were shocked and refused his act, it opened a huge debate in the press medium in Egypt whether this was considered a scoop or an offense for an icon and to a human being in the first place.
Disagree or agree with Sadat , he was a human after all not to mention that our traditions and religions consider this a violation to dead people , it is huge mistake that can reach to a sin ; we are people who respect death very much since the ancient times. Due to all most people shun what he had done and supported Rakkia Al-Sadat’s act from suing him and the newspaper.
During that time the old debate about the Egyptian Press’ code of ethics was revived again and some how journalists agreed that it is wrong to publish the photos of dead people in the morgue regardless of whom they were.
I remembered that code and that particular incident when the interior ministry decided to distribute the photos of the criminal who killed that Police general in Suez from two week ago in the morgue last week , yes that criminal was a real bastard who was ironically made and supported by the government and the interior ministry if you search in his criminal history very well and yes he deserved to be killed especially that the late Police general may God bless his soul was not his first victim. Still his dead body photos should not have been published in that way.
I remember too the awful photos of Nadine and Suzanne Tamim’s dead bodies and how they were violated for money ,it was disgusting. Of course in their case no one admits how these photos were leaked and why they were leaked too
I do not find a reason why we do not consider all those people who were violated in their death as human as President Sadat !!
The code of ethics must not differentiate between a President and a Murderer , between a student and a showgirl !!
