Of course it is too easy to blame the LAF and to accuse it of starting the fight which is untrue according to the Lebanese. We must understand that the Blue line is not considered official borders between Israel and Lebanon at least
First of all the UNIFIL is accused by the people at the South , especially on the borders of not doing its job as required. The people at the borders were speaking of continuing Israeli infiltration where the Israeli troops go to the Lebanese territories and kidnap farmers for two week maximum in order to collect intelligence about Hezbollah.
There is an interesting post by Patrick Galey about the UNIFIL in the South you should read.
The LAF and the people as well as have reported the Israeli provocations to the UNIFIL and Israel does not stop provoking them , you do not expect people to sit silently in any country if their neighbor enemy country does not respect their sovereignty , their real sovereignty.
Second of all if the IDF did not start the fight and did not cut a Lebanese tree nor it did cross the borders at all , then why the Israeli radio claimed that there were rockets launched from South Lebanon to North Israel first !!?? Why did the IAF launched its fighters infiltrating the Lebanese skies !!?? Why does not Israel respect the Lebanese skies in the first place !!??
Why did not the IDF inform the UNIFIL about that tree just like today !!??
If the IDF did not do something wrong ,why it did not explain the matter so quickly to the UNIFIL in order to stop the LAF and to clear this misunderstanding.
I think what happened yesterday was an attempt from the IDF to test the Lebanese front again and the army along of course the resistance reaction. Fortunately the resistance did not move this time but next time it will not sit there. The LAF shot warning shots and yet the answer was extensive shelling.
The Israeli government believes that the LAF's mission is to fight Hezbollah or any other group it considers as enemy to its state yet unfortunately this is the LAF not the IDF , the LAF's duty is to protect the Lebanese territories from any aggression including the Israeli aggression on the Lebanese territories. Israel must understand that not the Arabic borders are like the Egyptian borders not to mention that the Blue line is not border in the first place.
Update :
Patrick Galey has posted very , very interesting detail on twitter , there is a leaked internal memo from the British embassy in Beirut says the following :
IDF informed UNIFIL of needing 2 cross beyond the technical fence 2 cut down bushes, UNIFIL had relayed the message to the LAF. The LAF said they needed 24 hours notice before allowing the IDF to cross. The IDF chose to cross anyway and were spotted by LAF patrol. Hence the incident. So they crossed !!?? Interesting so interesting !!
I would like to read Robert Fisk describing yesterday's events

An anonymous 4:14 PM commenter on the earlier thread snarked that Zeinobia might not post this UNIFIL news, but she did and deserves credit. She has her own opinions but she is an honest broker.

ReplyDeleteIn a statement issued to the news agency AFP, a spokesman said: "The Lebanese army opened fire first at Israeli soldiers who entered Lebanese territory... This constituted defence of our sovereignty and is an absolute right." via Gurdian
lol not a border, course as Lebanon does not recognize existence of Israel, as other 19 peace loving states . UN recognizes blue line as the border via Patrick
Your hate is incredible, I am done about the subject as I hate talking to racist people.
Please don't go, John. I enjoy your comments.
ReplyDeleteIs a bush worth 4-6 lives?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 1:15 AM, is that a trick question?
ReplyDeleteOnly the insane Muslims are able to start a war over a tree not in their territory. But since the Muslims claim the entire planet as theirs, I'm not surprised.

ReplyDelete"Is trimming a tree branch worth 4-6 lives?" You seem unfamiliar with the case being discussed; perhaps you should have read it before commenting. In case you have an attention deficit disorder, here's a summary I'm providing for your convenience: The tree was an Israeli tree.
@Z, regarding your update about LAF requiring 24 hours. Since the tree was in Israel, it seems unreasonable for LAF to demand a timeframe for Israel to trim the tree. On the other hand, knowing LAF was taking that position, Israel was perhaps foolhardy to trim it right away.
ReplyDeleteThere is news from DebkaFile which is often wrong, but sometimes they have good scoops. My summary: IDF learned the identity of the LAF officer who approved the sniping. He is a Shiite who hangs out with Hizballah. On Wednesday August 4 there was a meeting in the town of Naqura in the Northern West Bank. It was attended by IDF, LAF, UN, and military attaches of France, Germany and USA. Israel demanded the LAF officer be dismissed or court-martialed, otherwise IDF would destroy LAF positions along the border.
This latest Muslim agression is nothing less than a premeditated cold blooded murder.
ReplyDelete@Zeinobia,
First you blame Israel for crossing the Blue Line - even though it didn't.
Than you say that the Blue Line is not the official border - so even if Israel DID cross it did not cross "the official border".
And than to prove that Israel crossed the Line you quote a sources that says Israel crossed THE FENCE - not the Line!
And finally you link to Robert Fisk's report which is full of lies of course!
What "objective" journalism!
