Ramadan Arabian Nights 2019 : King Haras Episode 1 "The King and the blind beggar"

Ramadan Karim ☪

It is our annual meeting with one of my favorite time of the year, Ramadan and its Arabian nights.
Tonight is our first night of Ramadan Audio Arabian nights in 2019.

This Ramadan season will not have one single tale but rather three tales.

We will start our triple bill season with the tale of King Haras and his adventure.

In the Arabic language, Haras is another synonym of the word “Assad” or “ fierce lion”.

You can listen to the first episode of our tale or no.180 of the Egyptian State Radio’s One Thousand and One Nights show in Arabic after the break

Our tale starts in one of the faraway kingdoms in China in ancient times where the King used to go in disguise from time to time to check on his people.

One night and as he was bored, he goes in disguise along with his vizier as foreign slave traders.
They go around in the city only to find some people standing around a blind beggar laughing.

The two go to see what his tale is. The king n disguise decides to give the beggar money only to be met persistence from that beggar that he must hit him on his face.
The king hits the beggar in the end on his face.

He and the vizier then move on to another part of the city despite they are dying to know the story of that beggar.

Our tale was written by Taher Abu Fasha inspired by the original Arabian nights' book.
