Heavy rain, thunderstorm and hail plus partial solar eclipse: Egypt’s busy Tuesday

It is not one of those Tuesdays, but it is a Tuesday to remember.

Various parts of the country were hit with a wave of unstable weather conditions just as we geared up to see that partial solar eclipse which most of us missed as Egyptians because we are either at work or busy with the bad weather conditions.

I could not see the eclipse due to the cloudy weather.

It started with heavy rain and hail as usual from the East of Cairo that headed to the West to Cairo when we speak about the Great Cairo region aka Giza plus Cairo.

Upscale New Cairo had the biggest share since the morning with the heavy rain and hail as well the biggest share of overflooding as usual.

People are sharing a video of a land drop in a street near upscale villas.

It is a bit ironic that one of the favourite areas of Egypt’s Upper Class was constructed in a faulty way and it suffers from overflooding every time we have a heavy rainfall

It is just surreal to see the monorail pillars standing in ponds of water!!

Already I wonder if that water has an effect on the strength of those pillars.

FYI, Egypt is gearing up to have the world’s longest driverless monorail system in the world.

This year, Mokttam hill district which according to its nature did not suffer from overflood but several important and vital streets were overflooded by rains.

Mokktam hill is currently being renovated FYI.

This is the first time we see a such scene in Mokktam.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), rain thunderclouds multiplied over areas of Eastern coasts, Canal cities, North Sinai, East Nile Delta, Great Cairo, and North Upper Egypt accompanied by moderate and sometimes thunderous rainfall since Tuesday afternoon.

As usual kids have returned to their homes very late. Some parents are concerned about the Weather on Wednesday.

For hours road axis and highways and bridges were red on Google maps.

To be honest I am thinking about those participants in Egypt’s Economic Conference 2022 at the New Administrative Capital City and how they will return home.

I wonder if they will take that new Light Rail Transit (LRT) or prefer to take their cars.

The Ministry of Education stated that it was not up to it to suspend the study nation at this stage, and it is up to each governorate and its needs.

I won’t hide because I said it before. I wish before pouring billions into axes and highways, we solve the rain drainage system problem
