Amidst the current Dostor crisis , the position of Adel Hammoda and his weekly newspaper or to be accurate tabloid from Ibrahim Eissa and his newspaper was peculiar.
The newspaper was not pro-Eissa’ Dostor like Sawt Al-Oma, Karama and Al Araby , it was not neutral like Al Shorouk or Al Ahram “yes amazingly Al Ahram coverage was not biased as expected” or it was accused of being biased against Eissa’s Dostor like Al Masry Al Youm or was actually biased like Rosa Al Youssef or Al Osoob.
Ibrahim Eissa and Wael Al Abrashi are known to be from the students of Hammoda during his Rosa Al Youssef’s reign and so I wondered what Hammoda would do to his student during this big professional massacre taking place in front of us. What made it even interesting is that it is well known that Adel Hammoda is from team Safwat Al Sharif aka the old guard in the media.
Hammoda was not in Cairo when Eissa was kicked from his own newspaper and saw his dream ripped off , he was in the States still he he knew what is happening in Cairo. I remember that the first week after the crisis he apologized to Alaa Mubarak in his column because that week before his gossip page published a rumor that Alaa’s wife were pregnant yet he did write anything about from near or far about Eissa
I do not buy the newspaper , I only check it online and so I do not know if there were any coverage or support to Eissa during the past weeks or not but I know that this week Adel Hammoda has won a new enemy and his name is El-Sayid El-Badawy.
Journalist Nabil Seif revealed that the newspaper received from two years the personal memories of Fouad Pasha Serg El-Din ago contained an internal partisan memo sent by 18 members of leading members in Wafd party at Gharbia governorate that goes back to , that memo was accusing El-Badawy of cheating in the internal elections of the party.
We do not know what Fouad Pasha had done but the fact that El-Badawy continued in the party till he became its head means that Fouad Pasha may have found him innocent but let’s say that Al Fagr and Adel Hammoda are supporting indirectly Al Dostor and Eissa in their own way.
